WJAC has an immediate opening for a creative News Producer/Multi-Media Journalist!
6 News is expanding its morning news coverage and looking for a journalist who can produce a compelling newscast, and report live in the field.
This is a hybrid role for someone with strong local news judgment, solid writing skills and the ability to recognize the stories viewers need to know about each morning. You will produce a reporter-driven morning newscast, then transition to live reporting for our expanded morning coverage.
We need a journalist who is organized, deadline-driven, creative and comfortable working both behind the scenes and in front of the camera.
Broadcast producing or live-reporting experience is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person with strong storytelling instincts and a commitment to local news. Some video editing will be required.

The ideal candidate will have:
MMJ Responsibilities include:
• Enterprise and pitch original, impactful story ideas
• Develop sources and build relationships throughout Central Pennsylvania
• Report, shoot, write and edit daily news stories and content on multiple platforms
• Deliver compelling live reports from the field
• Collaborate with photographers, producers and other journalists on major stories and special coverage
• Respond quickly and creatively to breaking news
• Producer Responsibilities include:
• Be able to multitask and manage time in order to put together an exciting and informative newscast
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• The ability to execute news strategies and goals in daily newscasts
• Flexibility and on-the-spot problem solving abilities are a must
• Proficient with non-linear editing (i.e. Avid) and newsroom systems, such as iNews
• Skills and Experience:
• Sharp news judgment and a strong understanding of what matters to local audiences
• Strong writing and storytelling skills, including knowledge of AP style
• Ability to tell impactful stories on deadline
• Excellent shooting, editing and technical skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative newsroom
• Ability to develop sources and enterprise stories beyond the daily news cycle
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and a good driving record
• Experience:
• Must have at least some previous news producing experience or reporting at a commercial TV station, although the right entry-level candidate may be considered
• A journalism degree is preferred
