Associate Publisher, Aladdin, Little Simon and Simon Spotlight
The Associate Publisher is responsible for managing the logistics of publishing approximately 400 titles a year from marketing and publicity to sales and inventory, as well as having a hand in all business decisions. They will report to the Publisher of Aladdin, Little Simon and Simon Spotlight. The ability to understand the publishing process will help meet the requirements of working quickly and cordially with a multitude of departments in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
include:
Liaison to the sales division to continuously identify sales opportunities across imprints. Responsibilities include but are not limited to coordinating all sales meetings with the marketing team, preparing pub grids and schedules; preparing agendas for focus and positioning meetings, identifying lead titles; responding to issues on call reports and from the sales team day-to-day; generating communication regarding essential info/schedule changes/news; attending sales calls with reps as needed; setting up and coordinating prop editions in our systems.
Primary point person to the supply chain team: includes attending all reprint and first print signing meetings; communicating upcoming promotions, publicity and sales needs and monitoring all inventory issues.
Primary point person for the marketing and publicity teams: includes collaborating and tracking the annual marketing budget; assessing sales requests for promotions in relation to the budget; setting weekly marketing meeting agendas; overseeing TIP sheets and comp titles (researching competitive tiles & brainstorming selling points); approving marketing materials, sell sheets, ads, etc; and coordinating all marketing plans and promotions.
Primary business point person for authors and agents: includes preparing and sharing sales and sell-in information, providing ongoing sales reports and tracking sales arcs for ongoing series and programs.
Liaise with the managing editorial department for title moves, seasonal title budgets and release dates.
Qualifications:
A seasoned children's books profession with at least 7 years of relevant experience is required
A highly pro-active team player with a passion for book publishing
Must have excellent communication, organizational and administrative skills, meticulous attention to detail, a mind and eye for numbers and budgets, and an ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ideal candidate will have either a sales or a marketing, background, or a combination of both.
College degree required.
An interest in commercial fiction and branded publishing is preferred
