This is a Part Time Unpaid Internship
Showtime Networks Inc. (SNI) is looking for passionate college students to join us in our upcoming Summer Internship Program. The program will run from June 10th through August 2nd, and will have a schedule of Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (ET).
Our network’s internships are professional and learning experiences. As such, they present priceless opportunities for students that want to learn the workings of a fast-paced, groundbreaking, and successful cable network. This is an unpaid, for-credit-only, internship program. Proof of credit eligibility and course enrollment from an accredited academic institution must be provided prior to start date.
In order to be considered for this program, your online expression of interest must include your resume AND a cover letter. Cover letters must include reference to your main area of interest (see available opportunities below), as well as your academic status (E.g. Rising Junior, Junior, Senior, Rising Senior, etc.).
Available opportunities, and brief descriptions, as follow: Affiliate Finance & Business Operations: The chosen intern will work closely with our Financial Account Director in: converting customers from paper remittance to online remittance; marketing campaign and subscriber analysis, reconcile approved credit checked affiliates and prepare materials for presentations. Digital Marketing: The intern will develop skills in project management; digital marketing campaign development and execution; social media strategy and implementation; platform/technology exploration; and, analytics of executed campaigns. Digital Services: Chosen intern will gain an understanding of: mobile marketing; mobile app development; team brainstorming; guidelines for use of content for promotional purposes; and, how to work with multiple disciplines (technical app developers, creative/design, business affairs, etcetera) to achieve a common goal.
Program Marketing: The chosen intern will assist in all advertising tactics (print/TV/online/outdoor) and components of the marketing plan for the summer series (Dexter/Ray Donovan). Track the competitive landscape and trends in the entertainment industry. Shadow managers and directors in planning meetings for fall/winter series to understand the marketing and advertising process.
Interstitial Planning & Scheduling: This internship will specifically work with the scheduling department to understand and execute media philosophy, trends and insights. The intern will play a pivotal role in providing Senior Management with a competitive review. Media and Promotions: The intern will gain an understanding of how media and promotions work together and the steps SHOWTIME takes in creating promotional plans. He/she will research and evaluate media and promotion opportunities and will help execute media and promotion plans for our summer shows. Programming Finance: The chosen intern will develop a working understanding of the Pay-Tv business and the accounting and forecasting for the programming side of the business. The intern will also gain familiarity with the following business contracts: film acquisition, personnel services (talent) for both on-air and fighters/performers, licensing, and sales.
Research - Programming & Interactive: The intern for Programming Research get training on the audience measurement of TV programming, primarily Nielsen data. He/She will get real-life experience using excel and PowerPoint to track, trend, and analyze the TV landscape. The Interactive Research intern will learn the tracking and analysis of viewing to SHOWTIME programming on various alternative platforms - including Subscription On Demand, Free On Demand, iTV, and TV Everywhere.
Showtime Sports: The chosen intern will be involved in sports marketing, communications and public relations related to all of our sports properties. He/she will be assigned varying tasks pertaining to Showtime Sports Boxing, MMA live events and other special programming. A strong interest and knowledge in sports, a plus.
Red Group Print: The chosen intern will assist Art Directors with photo research, scanning, type exploration, design small projects: logos, screening invites, marketing materials and flyers.
On Air Design: The Broadcast Design intern will be exposed to all facets of motion design, from concept to storyboards, animation to sound design, photography to film. The intern will be exsposed to basic design principles of layout, composition and typography.
Account Management: The chosen intern will work with the Account Management team and learn about the production of print, broadcast and digital advertising and marketing tactics.
Broadcast Production: The chosen intern will assist the Production Assistants and Creative teams. Make dubs, book voice over talent, book edit sessions, order, track and build reels, deliver spots, assemble compilations, distribute materials and attend meetings
Smithsonian Channel – Affiliate Marketing: The chosen intern will work in conjunction with the Affiliate Marketing Manager on production of new sales materials such as program description sheets, bill messaging, etc. At the end of the internship, the intern will present a Smithsonian Channel marketing initiative with a local affiliate partnership that leverages the Smithsonian Institution and Smithsonian Enterprises. Smithsonian Channel – Digital Media Marketing: The chosen intern will assist with the development and execution of Digital Marketing and Social Media Marketing tactics.
Smithsonian Channel – Consumer Marketing: The chosen intern will develop an understanding of consumer marketing for television network and programs. The intern will support efforts in developing positioning statements, target demographics, and competitive research. Corp Communications - Awards & Public Relations: The intern will learn everything from rules, eligibility and strategy concerning awards; maintain awards calendar, maintain list of premiere dates. The intern will learn all aspects of publicity for a television network including campaigns, operations, clips, press tours and working with talent and media.Required Skills/ExperienceRequired Skills and Experience:
* Current college student (rising junior or above)
* 2.50 GPA or above
* Able to obtain college academic credit
* Strong Interest in the Cable/Entertainment Industry
* Superior communication and interpersonal skills
* Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
* Exceptional attention to detail
* Able to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines
* Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
* Ability to work and prioritize work assignments
* Able to provide administrative support as needed
Preferred Skills/ExperiencePreferred Skills/Experience:
* Cable television experience, a plus
* Active participation in extracurricular activities, clubs and/or associations in leadership positions – while maintaining a high GPA.
* Prior internship experience in a related field
