Beloved by fans and filmmakers, Shout! Factory is a unique producer and distributor of independent film, classic and contemporary TV, music, animation, and comedy. The founders pioneered the careful curation and marketing of pop culture music with their first company, Rhino Records. They brought the same passion for quality content to the video space when founding Shout! Factory in 2003, and today we are a company of over 80 dedicated employees who love to bring to the public the film and TV content they love themselves - comedy, horror, animation, nostalgia and fan favorites, delivered thru theatrical release, digital streaming, downloads, broadcast television and DVD.
We have an immediate opportunity for a Senior Accounting Manager to join our Accounting team. Reporting directly to and working closely with our Controller, this position is responsible for a busy and challenging desk. This position manages the Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R) Manager.
Department: Accounting
Reports to: VP, Controller
Exemption Status: Exempt
Paid Time Off: Holidays, Vacation, Paid Sick Leave, Personal Days
Compensation: Generous compensation package, including base, bonus, 401(K) and other company paid benefits
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintain accurate vendor and customer records; ensure timely payments of vendor bills and employee expense reports; ensures that all money owed to Shout by customers are billed and received correctly and in a timely fashion.
• Manage A/P and A/R's monthly closing and reconcile the subsidiary ledgers (A/R, A/P, and Inventory) to the general ledger.
• Reconcile all the bank account statements to NetSuite, including Pex Cards and Petty Cash, timely and accurately.
• Record all the adjusting and closing journal entries in NetSuite.
• Perform timely and accurate monthly balance sheet reconciliations and income statement analysis.
• Liaise with company managers on the dissemination of accounting information via NetSuite.
• Manage timely filing of sales and use tax to various states.
• Records and reconciles various monthly reports from domestic and foreign distributors (e.g., Universal Pictures US and Canada, Universal Music US). Analyzes sales, distribution costs, marketing costs, reserves, and other transactions.
• Prepare and explain schedules for annual independent audit and tax file preparation.
• Oversee accurate 1099 annual reporting.
• Documentation and update of business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
• Minimum 1-2 years experience in an Accounting Manager position
• CPA or similar qualification
• Must have a solid understanding of GAAP.
• Experience with physical product inventory (either in an accounting or analyst capacity)
• Advanced proficiency in Excel 2010
• Experience with top-tier accounting software
• Must be comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment and able to take initiative
• Demonstrate positive and enthusiastic attitude and work style, and capacity to learn.
• Excellent written, verbal & interpersonal communication and organizational skills
• Ability to collaborate with all levels of staff - solicits and readily welcomes feedback.
• Willing and able to take full ownership of all responsibilities.
PREFERRED ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• NetSuite experience a plus
• Entertainment industry experience a plus
• Prior experience working in cpg/consumer product company
• Prior experience with minimum revenue of $100m
