Shihadeh Law P.C. (''SL'') is hiring a transactional entertainment mid-level associate attorney with previous work experience in the music industry to join its practice.
Ideal candidates must have:
• Previous experience in music and entertainment transactional law matters
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills in order to work effectively and cohesively with the firm's team of lawyers and staff
• Demonstrated passion for the music and entertainment industries
• A background in supervising or reviewing work completed by junior-level attorneys
• A strong team player mentality with enthusiasm for business development.
We are interested in supporting mutual growth and look forward to discussing how applicants might bring on and/or develop one's own book of business within the firm.
Applicant Requirements:
• Minimum of three years of music transactional experience (whether in-house or in private practice)
• Demonstrated interest in and enthusiasm for music industry issues and trends
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail; excellent legal research and analytical skills
• Membership in good standing (or pending membership) with California Bar
• Exceptional organization skills
• Excellent ability to work independently and remotely
• Exceptional communication skills
• Sensitivity to deadlines and ability to multi-task
• Ability to supervise and train junior associate(s), including identify errors and/or oversights on draft review, provide constructive feedback, and easily explain complex legal concepts
• Demonstrated enthusiasm and ability to work with a team
Responsibilities include:
• Negotiating and drafting contracts for music and entertainment clients
• Specialty in representing record labels is a plus
• Handling copyright and intellectual property issues
• Close interaction with and providing guidance to clients
• Candidates should be competent in handling the following agreements from start to finish: recording agreements with both major and independent record labels, publishing agreements with both major and independent publishers, record clearance agreements (side artists, producers, mixers, samples, etc.), joint venture agreements, live tour and performance agreements, management agreements, and brand/sponsorship/endorsement agreements
• Candidates will be responsible for mentoring, supervising, and delegating work to junior associate(s)
