Position Summary:
The role of Assistant Media Archivist is to prepare physical film for the digitization process, as well as general maintenance of the film within the collection. The Assistant Media Archivist will work closely to clean and repair any damaged film, as well as create reels for the process of scanning onto a hard drive. The Assistant Media Archivist is also responsible for cataloguing film throughout digitization and assisting in the research for specific client orders.
Responsibilities:
- Cleaning and repairing physical film
- Creation of reels for scanning, including film assembly
- Cataloguing incoming film
- Working with Media Archivists to complete research on client orders
- Maintenance of film throughout digitization process
- Assisting Media Archivists with catalogue and disposal of decomposition
- General office maintenance
- This role will involve a lot of cleaning due to the varied state of the film
Qualifications:
- This position is perfect for recent graduates in Film Preservation, Media Studies, and History looking for experience
- At least a 2-year degree from an accredited institution
- Understanding of film and film preservation highly encouraged
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Clear communicator
