Intern - Music & Entertainment Public Relations

This is a Part Time Unpaid Internship

Shaker Maker PR is a successful LA-based music and entertainment PR boutique. We are in need of 1-2 self-motivated interns to assist with all day-to-day operations. This is a great opportunity to get your feet wet in music PR and see if it's a career for you. Ideal candidate must be music and Internet savvy with excellent communication and writing skills.

Duties include but not limited to:

Assist with general office work such as phones, filing, mailings, making copies.

Assist with the writing of public relations materials, including press releases, bios, pitches, interview request, etc.

Conduct market research

Help seek out and set up interview opportunities for roster of clients.

Attend shows and help coordinate interviews, photo shoots or performance sessions.

Search for press clips online and distribute to appropriate accounts

Assist with tour press

Actively seek out and maintain relationships with blogs, music sites and other new media sites

Help maintain Shaker Maker PR’s social media pages, including website, facebook, twitter

Maintain industry database

Prepare and postage mass mailings

Requirements:
Majoring in Communications with an emphasis in public relations, journalism or media.

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Proficient in MAC/PC operating systems

Music savvy and knowledge of various genres.

Strong organizational skills/attention to detail

Friendly and personable

Ability and eagerness to follow directions

Reliable transportation with valid driver’s license

Like to go out and hear new music

Like to network and meet new people

Able to handle multiple tasks at once

Self starter

Must LOVE music.
