Who We're Looking for:
You are a dynamic Production Controller who can easily jump right in to oversee and manage all aspects of production finance for multiple simultaneous projects in our Portland studio. You have strong financial and accounting skills, great communication skills, great leadership skills, as well as a thorough and deep understanding of the entertainment industry's production processes. You can work full-time, onsite at our Portland studio.
What you'll do:
• Serve as the conduit between production, postproduction, accounting, and corporate finance for all production finance related matters and act as the first level of financial support for Line Producers, playing a pivotal role in job cost management.
• Hire (as needed), manage and lead the production accounting team in Portland, providing guidance, support, training, as well as ensure compliance within productions.
• Ensure accurate, complete, and timely cost reporting, prepare budgets, cash flows, ad hoc analysis and cost scenarios as needed.
• Ensure proper tracking, reporting and payments for SAG and other union crew as needed.
• Assist with the design, implementation, and execution of the short, mid, and long-term systems and tools for production finance planning across productions, including managing and allocating costs across productions and overhead.
• Report regularly to owners, corporate accounting, and clients.
• Manage bank accounts and ensure funding is invoiced, received, and posted in a timely manner.
• Ensure accurate and timely employee payroll and work closely with our payroll company.
• Ensure timely and accurate payment of all invoices, review and approve credit card transaction reports, audit receipt and backup coding, and maintain production PCards.
• Prepare backup and file all required documentation required by the state for tax credits.
What you'll need:
• Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Lead Production Accountant and/or as Controller, with experience in entertainment production is required. Animation or visual effects accounting experience is a plus, but not required.
• Strong, hands-on proficiency with production accounting software, preferably PSL, and experience budgeting in Movie Magic
• Experience with SAG payroll and reporting
• Expertise in creating and managing cash flows and running financial scenarios and projections, as well as production incentive budgeting, tracking, and filing.
• Expertise in setting up and running accounts payable, including: check printing, ACH payments, PCards, AMEX reconciliation, and payroll-union and non-union.
• Outstanding communication and leadership skills
• Big picture thinking with strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Expertise in advanced Excel and Acrobat preferred
• Proven ability to handle confidential information
