SG Services Seeks Financial Controller for Bloomington, IN Office
Title: Financial Controller
Reports To: CFO
Location: Bloomington, Indiana (work from home until further notice)
Overview
We are a global music distributor and record label group established over 25 years ago, founded in Bloomington, Indiana, with offices extending to NY, LA and London. We distribute music physically and digitally for independent record labels and music creators and operate our own proprietary labels featuring some of today's most cutting edge artists, such as Phoebe Bridgers, Moses Sumney, Khruangbin, and Bon Iver. We have strategic alliances with, or share ownership with, a number of other independent labels and have recently merged tech-forward Ghostly International into our affiliated operations.
Reporting to the CFO, the primary function of this role is to prepare monthly financial statements across all companies, maintain the integrity of data in the accounting system, prepare year end material for tax preparation and help our organization and accounting team streamline and optimize redundant processes.
Job Description:
Consistently execute accurate and timely monthly and quarterly closes and reporting for all companies
Financial statement preparation, at the individual company and consolidated level, to include Income Statement and Balance Sheet
Ensure accounting controls are implemented
Assist with conversion to new accounting system
Maintain Chart of Accounts and assist with necessary adjustments
Manage key projects within finance and report on progress to CFO
Create new processes as needed for monthly and quarterly transactions
Analyze and complete various balance sheet reconciliations across entities
Review transactions to ensure compliance and accuracy
Perform various accounting functions with varying levels of complexity, including overseeing financial data collection to ensure accuracy and compliance, posting journal entries
Maintain all required balance sheet account schedules for monthly and quarterly review, as applicable
Liaise with Distribution, Business Affairs, IT, and Data Ingestion teams to ensure accuracy and compliance across all systems
Prepare various year end tax and/or audit schedules, as applicable
Manage the books of UK foreign subsidiary
Supervise the quarterly VAT filings for UK subsidiary
Oversee process and entries for foreign currency transactions
Assist with the accounting treatment and process for, new acquisitions and corporate investments
Responsible for the monthly booking of allocated costs across entities
Supervision of accounting staff as directed
Qualifications and Skills
Required:
Undergraduate degree in Accounting or related business field
Minimum of five to seven year's prior experience, preferably in a national or regional accounting firm
Impeccable personal integrity and business ethics
Ability to lead necessary changes as the Company continues to evolve
Strong Preferred:
Implementation of Accounting Systems and process experience
Proven track record of handling inter-company relationships
Prior experience in the music business and/or withroyalty accounting
Experience with consolidated accounting practices and multi-company multi-currency environments
CPA
Prior experience with QuickBooks
