Intern - Legal

This is a Full Time Unpaid Internship

We are currently seeking a Legal Intern for our NYC, Chelsea and Knoxville, TN Corporate offices.

Job Description:

This summer internship will begin on or after May 22, 2017 and end on or before August 18, 2017.

Anticipated hours per week: 40

Internship Qualifications
• Currently enrolled and in good standing, attending a full-time JD program at an ABA-accredited law school.
• Prior internship experience is preferred in a corporate/entertainment legal environment.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States. Scripps Networks is unable to sponsor visas for interns. If you are an international student not already studying in the U.S. on an F-1 or J-1 visa, then you have to go through a university or an outside organization (internship placement agency) that will sponsor your visa.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist Business and Legal Affairs executives in business and legal decisions involved in negotiating and drafting contracts pertaining to talent and production company services as well as other business affairs decisions related to the development, production, and distribution of Scripps Networks Interactive programming.
• Conduct legal research and report on legal developments in the media, entertainment, intellectual property, and communications law fields.
• Assist with preparation and review of agreements, deal memos, option letters, and general correspondence and document management.
• Complete special projects as needed.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities
• Excellent communication (both verbal and written), organization and follow up skills.
• Must have excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the keen ability to deal with detailed, and sometimes ambiguous, information.
• Ability to work collaboratively with various teams.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Experience in handling sensitive, confidential information.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.

Computer/Technical
• Strong PC background, with demonstrated proficiency with Windows 7, Excel, Word, and MS Access.
• Demonstrated ability to learn and understand various computer systems.
