Independent Film Acquisitions Intern
Screen Media Ventures is seeking interns for Spring 2023 for the Acquisitions department.
About the Company
Screen Media Ventures, LLC, a Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment, Inc. company, acquires the rights to high quality, independent television series and feature films for the US and Canada. With a library of over 1,500 television series and motion pictures, Screen Media Ventures is one of the largest independent suppliers of high-quality tv series and motion pictures to U.S. and international broadcast markets, cable networks, home video outlets and new media venues. More recently, Screen Media Ventures' parent company launched a joint venture with Sony Pictures Television, which resulted in the creation of CracklePlus, an AVOD service that now combines their Crackle platform with our existing platform, Popcornflix. We are a fast-growing company that covers many different aspects of the film acquisition and distribution processes.
About the Internship
This is a very hands-on internship in a busy independent studio environment. It's a wonderful opportunity to vet incoming submissions and help the acquisitions team evaluate their viability as an addition to our film slate. Interns will have the ability to screen and read titles, learn more about film markets and festivals, sit in on meetings with team members and executives, and contribute their analysis on reviewed films.
Interns will be responsible for:
• Writing script coverage daily to evaluate quality and target audience. Coverage experience not required but preferred. All interns will be expected to cover two scripts per shift.
• Researching current film industry trends.
• Assisting the Acquisitions team with preparation for film markets and festivals.
Qualifications
Extensive knowledge of all types of movies including current independent films is required.
Details
Interns MUST be available for 2 days per week during business hours (M-F 10am to 6pm).
This is a paid internship.
Internship Dates: January 2023-May 2023
