Screen Ireland is seeking to recruit a Los Angeles based Liaison. The deadline for receipt of applications for this role will be 17.00 PST Wednesday 16th December 2020.
Introduction
Fís Éireann / Screen Ireland is the Irish Government Agency for the creative screen industries in Ireland, investing in Talent, Creativity and Enterprise, promoting the expression of national Irish culture on screen. The agency supports and promotes the Irish film, television and animation sector and Ireland as a location for international production.? Screen Ireland operates under the aegis of the Government of Ireland's Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports, and Media.
Screen Ireland is directly involved in the creative process of the development and production of Irish feature film, animation, documentary, shorts and more recently TV Drama. Working closely with creative teams to assist projects from early stage development to production and exploitation. Providing financing for projects which can demonstrate creative and commercial viability.
Screen Ireland is also responsible for attracting international productions to Ireland and promoting Ireland as a world-class film, TV and animation production location.
It is a stated ambition of the Irish Government that Ireland will become a centre of excellence for Audiovisual Production.
Screen Ireland is looking to recruit a Los Angeles based Liaison who will work with the management team reporting directly to the Deputy CEO and applications are currently being invited for the post. This position will support the Irish creative screen sector and strengthen US-Ireland relationships between the Irish screen industry and the US entertainment industry.
The candidate must have the ability to adapt approaches as required to the evolving industry needs as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Role Description and Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Deputy CEO, working with the management team across Inward Production, Skills Development, Marketing, Distribution and Creative Development & Production.
Responsible for maintaining strong relationships and working closely with key strategic Irish partners based in LA including Los Angeles Consul General, Enterprise Ireland, IDA, Tourism Ireland and other key stakeholders to promote a collective Ireland approach.
Building close US-Ireland working relationships between Irish companies and Irish creative talent involved in screen content development and production and US companies involved in financing, packaging, commissioning, acquisitions, and distribution.
Liaising with Inward Production on the promotion of Ireland as a location for screen content production, through establishing and nurturing relationships with LA based Studios, SVOD companies, Distributors and Production Companies.
Supporting Screen Skills Ireland in building LA based relationships for skills development opportunities including mentoring, shadowing, high level masterclasses, writers rooms and to facilitate placement opportunities. Coordinating skills development programmes with Irish creative talent visiting LA including studio visits, networking events and related opportunities.?
Representing Screen Ireland at markets, festivals, networking events and various functions in Los Angeles and across the US.
Advising on industry events and receptions that can raise the profile of the Irish Screen Sector.
Supporting programmes for international trade missions and traveling Government delegations in addition to coordinating incoming scouts, recces and familiarisation tours in Ireland.
Working closely with the Management Team on the key priorities of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and Sustainability. -
Candidate Profile - Key Skills/Competencies:
The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate:
Extensive industry experience at a senior level and up-to-date knowledge of the entertainment industry in Los Angeles.
High-level networking skills including the capacity to develop and strengthen US-Ireland links with partner organisations.
A team player with strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to manage effective relationships.
Understanding of the Irish and global creative screen industries, current production landscape, incentives, infrastructure and ability.
Strong international industry engagement and contacts.
Capacity to take initiative and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, positively contributing to a new dynamic and innovative working environment.
Strong administrative and organisational skills.
Must be able to work to challenging deadlines.
Must have a strong ethos to embrace and promote Diversity and Inclusion.
Essential Requirements
To be eligible the following qualifications and competences are required:
Extensive creative screen industry experience and knowledge is essential.
Excellent written and oral communication.
A high level of discretion, commitment and reliability.
Must be able to demonstrate a commitment to Diversity and Inclusion.
The successful candidate must have a legal entitlement to live and work in the United States prior to recruitment.
Selection Process
