Houdini Technical Director
Job Description:
The Houdini Technical Director builds tools and frameworks to power artist workflows across all disciplines of VFX. The role also supports the transition to Houdini and NGP.
Key Responsibilities:
• Identifies and solves complex, systematic problems in the domain of tools, nodes, graphs, pipeline, and overall workflow development.
• Gathers requirements across large collaboration efforts that span multiple departments and/or disciplines.
• Leverages current technology research and development trends to innovate and advance Scanline VFX's technologies.
• Designs, builds, and implements prototypes; debugs, and QA's using common testing platforms and stakeholders.
• Maintains and supports created tools and fine-tunes as needed.
• Writes technical briefs and documentation.
• Partners with pipeline management team to identify and schedule tasks.
• Defines, communicates and enforces development standards across team and project.
Qualifications:
• BA in Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience (required).
• Five (5) years of experience with VFX, Gaming, or other professional Houdini software usage.
• Expert knowledge of Houdini.
• Solaris and USD experience highly desirable.
• Python, PyQT, and HScript scripting abilities.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Good interpersonal communication Skills.
• Knowledge of render queuing software.
• Knowledge of Shotgun or asset management is a plus.
• Some knowledge of Maya and Nuke is a plus.
• Experience with VRay is a plus.
• C/C++ abilities is a plus.
Salary: $140,000 - $190,000 a year. This salary range is specific to applicants applying to our position in Vancouver, BC. To determine your base salary, we consider your qualifications, skills, and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary outside of this range and will also be dependent on your location.
