Full Time Job
Reporting to the CFX/Crowd Leadership, the CFX/Crowd TD helps make the department run efficiently. The right candidate will work alongside facility Technical directors and the CFX/Crowd Departments to improve tools and department workflows while helping troubleshoot related artist issues on the floor.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Designs tools to improve and speed up our artists' workflow
• Helps troubleshoot and problem-solve technical and pipeline issues that artists may encounter in the course of their shot work
• Improve department workflow and techniques by troubleshooting CFX/Crowd issues related to tools, Assets setup, Crowd setup, Groom, and caching workflow
• Interacts and works with other related departments and shows specific leads
• Creates scripts allowing for automation of specific tasks
• Identifies and solves complex, systematic problems in the domain of the tools, plug-ins, pipeline, and overall workflow development
• Leverages current technology research and development trends to innovate and advance Scanline's technologies
• Maintains and supports existing tools; fine-tune and troubleshoot as needed
• Writes Technical Briefs and documentation for new developments
• Partners with the Pipeline Management team to identify and schedule tasks
• Defines communication and enforces coding standards across teams and projects
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• BA Computer Science or similar discipline or equivalent experience
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in VFX, Gaming, or similar development environment as TD
• Maya, Houdini Python knowledge is required
• Experience in building UI with Qt, PyQt, or similar libraries.
• Experience with Unreal Engine, 3ds Max is a plus
• Maya API and 3D experience is required and C is a plus
• Experience in using source control systems like Git, Gitlab, or similar frameworks desired
• Understanding of design patterns and the software development process is a plus
• Experience with rigging, animation, and lighting is desired
• Team player who is able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Eye for detail and excellent organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively
