The 2D Pipeline Supervisor manages and supports the 2D pipeline team to solve Nuke related issues. The 2D Pipeline Supervisor's perspective is high level and forward thinking but is also able to provide direction for day-to-day studio pipeline matters, managing inter-departmental expectations while balancing priorities. Solid experience in management is required, as well as ensuring quality assurance standards and post-project reviews for ongoing improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Holds vision of the pipeline team's role, company standards, service agreements and provides guidance and leadership through change management
• Works with Pipeline leadership, and studio leadership including Production, Compositing Supervisors and Leads to determine requirements for current and upcoming shows; advises on implementation and potential solutions
• Collaborates with company leadership in identifying overall technical strategic goals
• Works daily with pipeline management team to identify and implement existing and new features
• Drives overall Pipeline information collection, documentation and knowledge transfer process eg. Provides demos and tutorials for artists and other TDs
• Develops and maintains an efficient and creative workflow and tools for the compositing artists
• Participates in daily scrum meetings and regularly scheduled department and production meetings
• Writes technical briefs and provides supporting documentation
• Partners with Pipeline Management team to identify priorities and schedule tasks
• Participates in recruiting; resume reviews, interviews, job descriptions
• Completes performance evaluations for team members
• Provides recommendations for education and training for ongoing skill development
• Mentors 2D pipeline team members; advises, guides and grows others
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
• Experience programming in Python and C
• Experience with Nuke's python APIs, NDK, gizmos, and compositing workflows
• Experience with PyQt or PySide
• Minimum four (4) years of production experience with Nuke
• Shotgun and TCL knowledge is preferred
• Possesses understanding of Colour Science
• VFX development production experience is desired
• Experience managing milestones/tasks under tight deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
