Title: Senior Accountant
Reports to: Assistant Controller
Department: Finance/Accounting
Status: Full-Time/Exempt
Position Summary:
The San Francisco Giants are dedicated to enriching our community through innovation and excellence on and off the field. In this role, you will be part of the Finance/Accounting team. You will play a crucial role in the accounting close process, planning, forecasting, measuring the success of strategic initiatives, driving analytical insights, and evaluating resource investments. Your work will be an integral part of ensuring sound financial and strategic decisions that drive sustainable business growth. This will be a ''roll-up-the-sleeves'' position. To succeed, you will need to be a doer, a team player, intellectually curious, analytical and a strong communicator.
Position Responsibilities:
• Perform accounting close duties (record JEs, reconcile GL accounts, contract review, etc.)
• Participate in the annual external audit processes and revenue sharing audit
• Research and interpret US GAAP guidance
• Manage part of the P&L and oversee operating expense reporting
• Build and maintain budget/forecasts
• Review BvA variances and trends with business partners
• Provide financial guidance and insight across teams for budgeting and forecasting
• Collaborate with business partners in the organization on ad hoc projects and financial modeling
• Develop new processes and tools to drive efficiency, analysis and insights
• Contribute to the implementation of Adaptive Planning software
• Continuously improve business processes to enhance data integrity and accuracy
• Assist with departmental accounting requests, MLB reporting, and ad hoc projects
Required Skills:
• BA or BS degree with an emphasis in finance, economics, accounting or related field
• 4 years of related accounting/finance experience
• Knowledge of financial accounting and US GAAP
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Professional (Excel and Word)
• Experience with Workday Financials, Adaptive Planning, Concur desired
• Detail oriented with organization skills necessary to work in a multi-task environment
• Ability to thrive under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and work independently
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Judgment in handling of confidential matters and information
• Strong analytical ability and perseverance to solve problems with minimal oversight
