We are looking for a Groundskeeper III to join our team! The Groundskeeper III plays a lead role in the maintenance and care of sports fields, landscapes, and outdoor facilities to ensure a safe, clean, and professional environment. This position requires advanced knowledge of groundskeeping practices and equipment, with the ability to perform and oversee complex tasks such as turf management, irrigation systems, field lining, and seasonal preparations. The Groundskeeper III may serve as a lead worker, guiding and training lower-level grounds staff, coordinating daily work schedules, and ensuring all tasks meet operational and safety standards. This role involves both hands-on labor and administrative duties, including reporting maintenance needs, managing supply inventories, and assisting in the planning of long-term field care strategies.
What You’ll Do:
• Facility Maintenance: As directed, complete the daily maintenance of all facilities throughout the complex, ensuring that all facilities are in good repair and operate safely and efficiently.
• Equipment Operation: Participate in all equipment training and learn to operate all tools and equipment in accordance with verbal and written instructions. Become familiar with equipment fine adjustments and take the initiative to adjust equipment setup to match conditions.
• Field Layout: From written instructions/diagrams and under moderate supervision, “lay out” field markings needed for sporting events that may include, but are not limited to, soccer, football, rugby, lacrosse.
• Perform assigned duties customary to sports field maintenance: Perform repairs to irrigation systems, tree and shrub pruning, mowing, edging, fertilizer/pesticide applications, sod installation.
• Participate in educational opportunities both internal and external.
• Provide event support on game days and/or for other events.
• Other Duties as assigned.
Who You Are:
• 3-5 years experience with turf maintenance/equipment operation
• Ability to work on multiple tasks over the course of a day.
• Knowledge of equipment operations common to the sports turf industry, turf maintenance, landscape, and/or construction.
• Demonstrate attention to detail.
• Competency in reading layouts and maintenance schedules
• Effective communication skills; ability to interact professionally with staff, vendors and contractors
• Work extended and/or irregular hours including weekends, nights, holidays, as required to meet the competition schedule.
• Must possess and maintain a current, valid Texas Driver’s License.
• Must have the ability to pass a standard background screening.
• Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Physical Requirements:
• Stand/Sit/Walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift/push/pull 50 lbs. on a regular basis
• Ability to work outside in all seasons and weather 95% of the time. This role is unable to work remotely.
