The Director of Digital Content & Strategy will lead the content strategy team across all Spurs Sports & Entertainment brands including the San Antonio Spurs, Austin Spurs, San Antonio FC, The Rock at La Cantera, and community impact initiatives. This role is responsible for driving platform-native storytelling, ensuring content aligns with brand and business priorities, and growing the impact and performance of our digital channels.
This is not just a planning role, it’s a producing role. The Director must lead a team that actively creates content, with a focus on daily, vertical video designed specifically for TikTok, Reels, Shorts, and other short-form formats. This role will define what “great” looks like across platforms and ensure our output is consistent, relevant, and culture-forward.
The Director also owns the analytics cycle end-to-end guiding weekly performance reviews and translating data into insights that shape creative decisions. As the bridge between Content Strategy and the Studio, they will improve workflows and ensure seamless handoffs from idea to execution.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, collaborative partner, and hands-on leader with deep fluency in digital platforms and creative instincts grounded in audience behavior. This person will work cross-functionally with Creative Studio, Marketing, Basketball Ops, PR, Community Impact, and Global Partnerships to drive a unified, high-performing content ecosystem across all SS&E properties.
What You’ll Do:
• Lead the digital content strategy across all brand verticals, with direct ownership of social media and a collaborative role in site and app planning in partnership with the Product team.
• Manage and mentor the social strategy team including the Manager of Basketball Social Media and Manager of Franchise Social Media, with a focus on building and supporting a content-creating team that delivers short-form, vertical video.
• Translate organizational goals into actionable content strategies that balance storytelling, fan engagement, and business outcomes.
• Define and oversee content calendar processes across departments to ensure alignment, preparedness, and real-time responsiveness.
• Own the analytics cycle end-to-end, including weekly performance reviews, and translate insights into actionable guidance for publishers and creators.
• Partner with the Content Studio and Creative leads to define handoffs, improve workflows, and align strategy with execution.
• Set the standard for platform-native excellence, with deep fluency in TikTok, Reels, Shorts, and emerging formats providing creative direction grounded in audience behavior.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Creative Studio, Basketball Ops, PR, Community Impact, and Global Partnerships to ensure content and campaigns align with brand voice and fan expectations.
• Foster a positive, collaborative, and feedback-rich team culture that supports creative risk-taking, alignment, and continuous improvement.

Who You Are:
• Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field required
• 8 years of experience in digital content, social media, or brand storytelling, including 3 years in a people management role
• Proven experience leading a team of content creators, with a strong track record of publishing short-form, vertical video for TikTok, Reels, Shorts, and emerging formats
• Deep understanding of platform-specific best practices, content formats, and algorithm behavior across key social channels
• Demonstrated success in building and executing high-volume content calendars, including reactive and planned storytelling
• Strong command of content performance analytics, with the ability to run review cycles and translate insights into creative adjustments
• Experience collaborating with creative teams, marketing, partnerships, and external vendors to execute campaigns and branded content
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to lead cross-functional discussions and influence creative direction
• Comfortable working in high-tempo, real-time environments—especially in sports, entertainment, or culture-focused industries
• Availability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working on a computer or mobile device.
• Use hands and fingers to operate a keyboard, phone, camera, or video equipment.
• Lift, carry, move light equipment such as laptops, cameras, tripods, or lighting gear up to 25 lbs.
• Move throughout an arena or event venue to capture content from various angles (on-court, concourse, press box, locker room, etc.)
• Work in crowded, noisy, and fast-paced environments, especially during games or media events.
