Independent Film Distribution Company located in L.A. is seeking: Staff Accountant
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience. Base salary plus annual performance bonus
Responsibilities:
• Handle accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, Revenue Recognition and Payroll
• Perform the month end, quarter end, and year end close processes including preparing and reviewing journal entries and supporting reconciliations
• Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and necessary tax documents
• Recommend suggestions to improve efficiencies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Provide support for other analysis/tasks as needed
• Ensure accounting compliance with distribution agreements
• Maintain adequate levels of information and documentation to support accounting transactions
Qualifications will include:
• Education: B.A in Accounting /Finance
• Work Experience: 1 years+ in an Accounting position that includes gathering transaction data, analyzing, inputting, ''closing-the-books,'' preparing Title Distribution Statements, Financial Statements and related reports
• Self-starter than can work remotely, plan, schedule and monitor work assignments (Self and Analyst) to consistently meet periodic deadlines. Will report to the office as required when conditions permit.
• Entertainment Industry accounting knowledge (Distribution Statement reporting, Disposition of Gross Receipts, etc.) along with knowledge of accounting policies, US GAAP, practices and procedures while conforming to federal, state and local legal standards
• Experience using ''QuickBooks,'' General Ledger and related applications (Payroll)
• Strong Microsoft ''Excel'' and analytical skills for use in Budgeting/Forecasting/Cash flow planning
• Can handle increasing transaction volumes and suggest/develop automated system improvements to keep pace with anticipated growth.
• Can interact effectively with individuals inside and outside the Company
• Can maintain strong internal accounting controls and related policies/procedures to safeguard Company assets
