Manager, Television & New Media Entertainment Contracts, Negotiations
Work with the Senior Director and other Entertainment Contracts Managers in the negotiation of SAG-AFTRA Entertainment Contracts. Support Senior Director in the negotiation process, including but not limited to negotiation preparation with committee members, affected member stakeholders and company representatives. Assist in the drafting of negotiating proposals, and negotiate one production only agreements with company representatives.
Responsibilities
• Partner with the senior management and various SAG-AFTRA staff within Entertainment Contracts to collaborate and be the Second Chair to the Senior Director for applicable collective bargaining agreements.
• Assist as Second Chair in the negotiation process which may include scheduling, holding member meetings, drafting negotiation proposals, development of negotiation strategy, serving as a subject matter expert, and attending with the Senior Director all negotiation sessions related to the applicable collective bargaining agreements.
• Part Negotiate one production only agreements with various industry representatives, including labor lawyers, producers, and labor relations executives.
• Assist in the training when new agreements are made to advise Entertainment Contracts staff on new and changed provisions.
• Recommend changes to Entertainment Contracts senior management, as well as coordinate and implement changes when needed
• Attends Wage and Working Condition meetings, as well as any other relevant committee meetings
• Participates in various collective bargaining negotiations when requested and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Thorough knowledge of the Entertainment contracts and signatory process, and other related agreements
• Ability to negotiate and strategize for sophisticated collective bargaining agreements.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the interpretation and administration of the various collective bargaining agreements pertaining to Entertainment Contracts
• Ability to effectively communicate with talent agents, managers, business affairs executives, and talent attorneys regarding the provisions in the Entertainment Contracts
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; including the ability to defend SAG-AFTRA's position verbally or in writing form to staff, members, or outside parties
• Ability to develop and conducts training seminars, as well as represent Entertainment Contracts within and outside the organization
• Demonstrative ability and initiative to take on unanticipated problems and assume responsibilities beyond regular duties
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality of information
• Ability to work in a very fast-paced, high-pressure environment
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Experience in entertainment labor relations either on the studio or Union side
PREFERRED BACKGROUND:
• J.D. with a background in labor/employment law and/or entertainment law
• Experience in labor relations either at a television/film studio or Union
• Business Affairs or Talent Agency experience a plus
