POSITION PURPOSE:
The Executive Director, Contract Enforcement & Strategy develops and coordinates the union’s enforcement efforts across all contracts (except Broadcast). S/he will be responsible to develop and project-manage enforcement initiatives to address challenges with contract compliance, including coordinating the involvement of other departments, such as communications and legal, as necessary. With the Chief Contracts Officer and other staff, this individual will have a primary role in preparing for negotiations, helping set bargaining strategy and thinking through how our collective bargaining agreements can be adapted to protect members in an evolving media landscape. S/he is also responsible to ensure that the union is interpreting its collective bargaining agreements correctly and consistently, including through nationwide staff training and communication. The Executive Director, Contract Enforcement & Strategy will also serve as an internal and external information resource about our contracts and the activities of the contracts departments and participate as part of the Office of the Chief Contracts Officer in executive decision making and department strategy as it relates to the contract departments. S/he will hold dotted line reporting relationships with all contract department heads and will be responsible for contributing substantive feedback for department head assessments and feedback.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and implement enforcement strategies to address chronic and/or acute compliance challenges and problematic companies and individuals.
• Develop and project manage contract enforcement initiatives, including involvement of other departments, such as legal and communications.
• Work with the Office of Media and Labor Economics to review, analyze and report on claims volume, earnings trends and other relevant data.
• Take a leadership role during the union’s W&W processes with a particular focus on identifying and addressing enforcement challenges.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key employer representatives.
• Maintain information about contract enforcement challenges and complaints.
• Ensure consistent interpretation of contract provisions and of related provisions across contracts.
• Document and ensure internal compliance with contract interpretations.
• Supervise contract training programs nationwide and ensure that members and other constituents are consistently receiving correct answers to contract questions.
• Serve as the final resource on GR1 questions.
• Maintain high level expertise on covered industries and new developments.
• Review and exercise approval authority over claims that are sent to legal for arbitration.
• Coordinate arbitration strategy with legal.
• Assist CCO in the development of negotiating strategies and assessment of competing demands on the bargaining process.
• Serve as internal and external resource on contract information and department activities.
• Supervise the development and execution of the negotiations calendar.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Advanced level of management experience and demonstrated leadership skills required to effectively manage and develop team and individual contributors.

• Able to communicate proficiently in English, both orally and in writing.

• Must be available and willing to work such hours per day or per week, including weekends and holidays, as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary to meet its business needs.
• Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
and/or Experience:
• 5-7 years of relevant work experience
• 3 -5 years management/supervisory experience
• Extensive experience with collective bargaining agreements required
• Undergraduate degree from accredited college or university strongly preferred
• Knowledge of entertainment industry required
