Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
The Day Porter and Facility Maintenance Professional is responsible for general oversight, cleaning, meeting room set up, lighting maintenance, stocking cleaning supplies, and minor repairs in all assigned areas, including restrooms as needed. Responds to New York Administration facilities related requests in a timely and effective manner. Supports Administration projects as needed and maintains a welcoming, presentable environment for staff and visitors while ensuring our space remains clean, safe and operational during business hours.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Cleaning & Sanitation: Perform daily cleaning of lobbies, restrooms, breakrooms and common areas (i.e., dusting, vacuuming, mopping, shampooing carpet and cleaning glass, etc).
• High-Touch Disinfection: Proactively sanitizing door handles, shared equipment and furniture in the office and staff and member lounge.
• Restroom Upkeep: Ensuring restrooms are thoroughly cleaned and stocked with soap, paper towels and toilet paper throughout the day.
• Minor Repairs and Maintenance: Responsible for installation and repairs of shelving units, bookcases, cabinets and basic, non-technical maintenance.
• Trash Removal: Responsible for emptying trash during and after meetings and events, removing litter and rubbish from common areas daily.
• Safety & Compliance: Responding immediately to spills, placing “wet floor” signs, and ensuring emergency exits are clear.
• Meeting and Event Support: Prepare conference rooms before and after important meetings and special events, assist with setting up and breaking down rooms and catering for special events or meetings.
• Responsible for the lighting maintenance for the entire office.
• Assist with ordering supplies required for facility maintenance.
• Install and repair furniture and equipment, including chairs, desks, file cabinets, and ergonomic equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Must be computer proficient (MS Office Suite, UPS-online, FedEx online). • Excellent organizational skills in order to efficiently expedite multifaceted workload with high degree of accuracy.
• Extensive trouble-shooting and problem-solving experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Superlative interpersonal skills: high degree of patience and tact. Must be able to cultivate respectful, strategic and collaborative relationships with people from diverse backgrounds both internally and externally.
• Have an understanding and awareness of worker rights impacting SAG-AFTRA members.

• Capable of taking direction from more than one supervisor.
• Must be able to work in a challenging environment where constructive feedback from others is encouraged.
• Proven proficiency with a highly detail-oriented workload regarding account reconciliation.
• Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such a level as is determined at SAG AFTRA’s sole discretion.
• Must be available and willing to work extended hours (and/or overtime for applicable non- exempt positions) per day or per week, including weekends and holidays, as SAG AFTRA determines is necessary to meet its business needs.
• Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience:
• High school diploma or relevant qualification required.
• 1-3 years of porter and facilities maintenance experience.
• Basic familiarity with hand tools and power cleaning equipment.
• Able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
• Must be reliable and professional.
• Strong focus on maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.
• Customer service mindset to interact positively with employees and visitors.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and handle maintenance requests efficiently.
• Prepared to execute all duties and responsibilities in a safe and timely manner.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Ability to stand, walk, and bend for long periods.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
