Los Angeles Program Manager
Department: Performers Programs
Reports to: National Director of Actors Programs
FLSA Status: Full Time, Exempt, Salaried
The SAG-AFTRA Foundation is a non-profit organization for SAG-AFTRA members. We educate, empower, entertain and assist through our Performers Programs. Most of our panels are archived in our video gallery on our website & YouTube channel.
We seek an experienced Program Manager to develop dynamic, relevant and creative panels for an audience of actors and to oversee our Conversations program of career retrospectives with actors as well as screenings and Q&As of film, television and new media projects.
This person will report directly to the National Director of Actors Programs and will collaborate with program managers across the organization to support our performers programs.
The Los Angeles Program Manager is the primary point person for all Los Angeles-based Conversations programs. Candidates must be flexible for evening and weekend work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Oversees Conversations programming and all aspects of event execution, including run of show, talent liaison, technical checks, introduction and opening remarks, and close of event
• With a thumb on the pulse of the entertainment world, identifies big awards titles for major premieres and industry events and independent films from the festival circuit
• Is able to create and produce dynamic panels with leading industry talent and a creative vision for what is relevant to an audience of actors
• With a sharp eye for detail, coordinates scheduling of all Conversations programming, including but not limited to publication, reservation management, moderator, asset delivery, invitation, social media, photography, volunteers, patron management and technical needs
• On site at events, manages House Managers, Security, and Volunteers; assists with overseeing event processes and procedures in screening room
• Works with NY Program manager to create outreach strategy for targeting new potential Conversations events and to build brand awareness for the Foundation and Conversation programming
• Has relationships with PR teams at studios and networks as well as personal PR firms.
• Utilizes a deep understanding of the ebb and flow of the artistic journey and actor as entrepreneur to develop fresh discussion topics and key questions
• Utilizes exemplary communication skills by speaking personably and articulately to talent and talent representatives about the organization, our programs, mission and philanthropic achievements
• Utilizes exemplary written skills and a high standard of quality when composing all internal and external communications, including e-blasts and outreach to publicists, distributors, and studios
• Assists with quarterly reports and compiling statistics
• Assists with implementation of special events
Supervisory Responsibilities: none
Requirements & Preferences:
• This position would suit someone with experience in Awards PR, television programming, film festival programming or entertainment journalism.
• Proficiency with G suite, Photoshop, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) Mailchimp required
• Must be available and willing to work such overtime or extended hours as SAG-AFTRA Foundation determines is necessary to meet its business needs.
• Nighttime/weekend availability required.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality of information
• Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented
• Ability to work in a very high paced environment
• Able to organize and coordinate multiple tasks under deadline
• Excellent interpersonal skills: high degree of patience and tact
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work independently and as a member of a team
• Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined at SAG-AFTRA Foundation's sole discretion
