POSITION: Staff Accountant
DEPARTMENT: Finance Department
MANAGER: Accounting Manager
Who are we looking for: A detail-oriented individual who can contribute to our continued efforts to strive for excellence and innovation within our finance team.
Principal Function: Responsible for maintaining and reporting accurate and timely financial information as well as involvement in the month-end close process, periodic audits and financial statement review.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare daily banking summary
• Process system integration files for revenue
• Analyze event data for league invoicing
• Track and analyze certain team expenses including air travel, lodging and ground travel
• Manage fixed asset schedules and amortization tables
• Participate in the monthly close process
• Prepare manual and automated journal entries including: accruals, amortization and reclassifications
• Analyze general ledger detail
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
• Participate in annual budgeting process and subsequent monitoring of budget-to-actual variances
• Leverage technological capabilities of accounting software to enhance departmental efficiencies
• Assist department with special projects and reports on an ad hoc basis
• Perform all work in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Tax – assist with preparing tax schedules and tax return forms as needed
• Audit - assist with annual and league audits preparing audit schedules as needed
Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree; BS in Business or Accounting preferred
• Minimum of 2 years prior experience in the field of accounting, tax or audit
• CPA or CPA eligibility preferred
• Solid understanding of basic accounting and audit issues
• Computer skills requirements: intermediate MS Excel
• Knowledge of accounting, tax and/or audit applications preferred and Ticketmaster software, a plus
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers
• Ability to solve practical problems in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to professionally handle highly sensitive and confidential information
• Must be well organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects
• Capable of working extended hours during month-end, year-end and audits
