SUMMARY:
The Senior Vice President, Finance is responsible and accountable for the administrative and financial management of the company, including the development and oversight of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, debt management and compliance, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. This position will work with ownership to increase opportunities and minimize risk with respect to the total enterprise activities. The Senior Vice President, Finance is a key member of the senior executive team and provides valued input regarding the strategic direction of the team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead the Finance Department to ensure excellence in day-to-day service delivery across the organization.
• Develop and implement, directly or through subordinates, financial and tax strategies for the franchise.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial and tax accounting in accordance with GAAP, IRS rules, NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement Rules (BRI) and NBA Combined Financial Statement Reporting (CFS).
• Supervise the completion of tax and compliance reporting requirements.
• Maintain a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism. Initiate appropriate strategies to improve cash position and overall debt management and compliance.
• Oversee annual audits for all required entities.
• Build and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard assets.
• Direct the overall financial reporting and accounting function. Manage financial performance through the development of forecasts and performance against plan.
• Provide monthly financial reports, including departmental budget to actual analysis.
• Provide forward-looking analytical leadership across all entities.
• Direct all reporting and forecasting requirements for the NBA, G- League, Kings Guard Gaming, and other business entities in the enterprise.
• Oversee compliance with CIB financial reporting requirements.
• Direct all Treasury functions including debt agreement compliance (including NBA debt rules), renewals, borrowings, capital market and hedging activities.
• Lead and direct the capital request and budgeting process. Monitor budget throughout the year via financial metrics.
• Participate and lead (when appropriate) key decisions as a member of the senior executive team.
• Maintain positive relationships with all members of the management team, ownership, and internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure all accounting processes, financial reporting, forecasting, capital budgeting systems are optimized through various software, database systems, integrations, and other commonly used tools.
• Develop and implement a strategy to improve company performance.
• Advise on all major business transactions.
• Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:
• Four-year college degree (BA or BS) in accounting/finance/business or related field from an accredited college or university.
• CPA required, as well as 12+ years public and/or private accounting experience with at least 7 in a comparable Senior Finance-level role.
• Solid command of GAAP accounting principles, practices, and associated computer systems and interfaces, preferably in Workday.
• Experience in analyzing business performance and developing financial plans.
