Kings University starts October 10, 2023, and runs through the 23-24 season!
Summary: The Sacramento and Stockton Kings are seeking a motivated Public Relations (PR) Intern to provide comprehensive support to both teams. This dynamic role encompasses various responsibilities, including writing press materials, media outreach, monitoring coverage, fielding inquiries, and handling administrative duties. Additionally, the intern will be responsible for offering game day/night media assistance for the Stockton Kings and contributing to game note creation as needed.
Location:
• Primarily located in Stockton with several days a month in Sacramento
Key Responsibilities: In this multifaceted role, the PR Intern will be responsible for:
• Assisting in the creation and distribution of press releases, media advisories, blogs, notes, and other relevant media content.
• Responding to information requests from both internal and external sources as directed by their supervisor.
• Building and maintaining up-to-date media contact lists.
• Compiling media coverage clips and generating media coverage reports as necessary.
• Coordinating media events, which includes scheduling, creating timelines, drafting talking points, and other related tasks.
• Monitoring upcoming projects, deadlines, awards, and milestones.
• Tracking inventory and processing donation requests.
• Providing game day/night media support, including checking in media personnel and assisting in post-game note composition.
• Fulfilling various other duties and projects as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Proactive and self-motivated with a positive attitude, capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, coupled with effective prioritization skills.
• A service-oriented mindset with a commitment to teamwork and the ability to tailor messages for specific audiences.
• High regard for confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
• Enrollment in a college or university program, or recent college graduate (within the past year).
• Availability to work a minimum of 25 hours per week.
• Flexibility to work game nights, extended hours, days, weekends, and holidays as required.
To qualify for Kings University internships, you must be:
• Currently enrolled in college or have graduated within 12 months
• Able to commute to the downtown Sacramento office
• Able to work 25 hours per week
Interns will be compensated $15.50 per hour and receive benefits such as California Paid Sick Leave, discounts on Sacramento Kings merchandise, and free parking.
