Description of Facility:
Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium is located in Jupiter, FL and is the spring training home to the St. Louis Cardinals and Miami Marlins. The complex is also home to both organizations High A Advanced and Rookie League affiliates. Opened in 1998, the complex includes a 6,871 seat Stadium and team clubhouses, batting cages, 12 full-size and 2 half-sized baseball fields as well as the surrounding landscape areas. We are seeking highly qualified, energetic, professional that will assist the Director of Grounds and Facilities and Head Groundskeeper in managing the facility.
Position Summary:
The Assistant Groundskeeper is responsible for assisting the Director of Grounds and Facilities and Head Groundskeeper in day-to-day maintenance of fields and grounds, supervision of grounds maintenance staff, and training employees in equipment operation. The Assistant Groundskeeper will also be the Head Groundskeeper for one of our two Florida State League teams. (Jupiter Hammerheads; Palm Beach Cardinals).
Essential Functions of the Position
Communicates daily with Florida State League managers, umpires, and GM in regards to BP schedule, weather situations, and other needs. Assist in maintenance and repair of playing surface (mowing, edging, mound and plate repair, and infield skin maintenance. Mange the preparation of the playing field for pre-game activities as well as game set up.Sets up and assigns staff to daily grounds maintenance schedule, training, games, and events. Creatively implement sports turf management best practices, such as aerification, top-dressing, fertilizing, integrated pest management, and tarping, to align with scheduled events at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium and complex. Supervises grounds foreman, full time and part time groundskeepers. Trains grounds maintenance staff (hands-on direction, equipment operation, and all aspects of grounds maintenance). Oversees and maintains irrigation systems. Ensures equipment is clean, operational, and maintained in proper order and fashion. Ensures all tools and equipment is returned to their designated areas.
Checks out with supervisor before leaving scheduled or unscheduled shift. Attends role call and mandatory departmental meetings. Be able to perform all duties of everyone under their supervision. Performs other grounds related duties as assigned or requested by Director of Grounds or Head Groundskeeper.
Education
, Experience, and Skills Required
Must have a college degree or be degree seeking. Two years minimum golf or grounds experience. Must be able to identify turf deficiencies and pest problems. Ability to lift/move/carry items weighing up to 60lbs on a regular basis. Ability to lift/carry items weighing up to 70lbs on occasions. Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends and holidays. Ability to use/operate typical grounds keeping hand tools, implements, and power equipment on a regular basis for long periods of times

Commensurate with experience, Medical, dental, and life insurance, 401k with employer match program, vacation after 1 year of service.
