The job opportunity is Sr. Java Developer for RLJ Entertainment. Be the senior member of a dynamic and agile development team building and maintaining the core digital platforms that drive our PSVOD channels across multiple platforms. The role reports to the company's Director, Digital Platforms. The position will be located at our office at the Trillium in Warner Center, Woodland Hills, CA.

RLJ Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ: RLJE) is a premium digital channel company serving distinct audiences primarily through its popular OTT branded channels, Acorn TV (British TV) and UMC (Urban Movie Channel), which have rapidly grown through development, acquisition, and distribution of its exclusive rights to a large library of international and British dramas, independent feature films and urban content. RLJE's titles are also distributed in multiple formats including broadcast and pay television, theatrical and non-theatrical, DVD, Blu-ray, and a variety of digital distribution models (including EST, VOD, SVOD and AVOD) in North America, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Additionally, through Acorn Media Enterprises, its UK development arm, RLJE co-produces and develops new programs and owns 64% of Agatha Christie Limited.

RESPONSIBILITES:

• Build out and maintain a custom CMS that houses content metadata
• Maintain and develop new end points to feed data to our digital channels and other downstream systems
• Participate in and lead architectural design sessions
• Write best-in-class code in line with a shared strategic vision
• Integrate and maintain the CMS with several WordPress consumer-facing sites
• Create technical documentation along with test plans for tasks
• Contribute ideas to improve the performance of our API/CMS stack
• Available to work nights/weekends when necessary to investigate critical issues/outage
• Lead outage management calls when appropriate

Desired Skills and Experience
REQUIREMENTS

• 8-10 years of hands on Java Development (J2EE/J2ME)
• 2-4 years of experience with php
• 2-4 years of experience javascript (JQuery, Angular, Bootstrap)
• Solid understanding of OOP concepts, design patterns and best practices
• Solid understanding of Mysql and its various ports (Percona, MariaDB)
• Working knowledge of NoSQL platforms (Redis, MongoDB)
• Proficiency with Restful APIs
• Proficiency with data modeling and designing and creating scalable database schemas
• Hands on experience with AWS including EC2, Elastic Volumes, S3, Load balancing, Elastic Cache, Aurora, CloudFront
• Hands on experience with Beanstalk
• Comfortable working in the linux command line
• Familiar/Working knowledge of both SVN and Git including branch strategies similar to git-flow
• Experience with Continuous integration/automation with Jenkins
• Familiar with Agile and Kanban style workflows
• Experience with cross platform video streaming (H.264/HLS)
• Experience developing plugins/themes for Wordpress
• Third party API integration (Mailchimp, Sailthru, Facebook, Tune, Google Analytics)
• Messaging/Queue Systems (Amazon SQS, RabbitMQ, GearmanD)
• Search technologies (Solr, ElasticSearch)
