BLKNWS: Terms and Conditions is the debut feature by Kahlil Joseph, a radical and visionary new kind of film experience-part experimental documentary, part cinematic news broadcast, and entirely singular. Evolving from Joseph's acclaimed art installation, BLKNWS explores Black culture, history, and media through a dynamic blend of archival footage, original reporting, scripted segments, and real-time internet ephemera. It is an urgent, living portrait of the Black experience in the 21st century. The film will premiere at the 2025 New York Film Festival and is being positioned for awards consideration.
ROLE OF PUBLICITY
We're looking for a senior publicist or agency that can help shape and execute an integrated campaign that is as innovative as the film itself-bridging traditional media, tastemaker outreach, editorial, and cultural strategy. Candidates must have a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in film and television, including a strong background in awards campaigns. Key goals include:
Securing long-lead features and critical coverage across film, culture, art, and Black media outlets.
Building sustained conversation and anticipation in the lead-up to NYFF and Black Friday.
Supporting our awards run with targeted campaign press and industry buzz.
Identifying and engaging key critics, curators, journalists, artists, and cultural figures aligned with the BLKNWS ethos.
WORK STRUCTURE & LOCATION
Location: Remote-friendly; LA or NYC preferred for media access
Term: Ongoing retainer or project-based contract (flexible to scope)
Start Date: Summer 2025

Cross-platform publishing through the BLKNWS site and social media channels, led by a digital editorial team.
