Role Overview
We're seeking a Publicist or PR Consultant to shape the public profile of a new kind of independent film distributor-one that works across cinema, visual art, fashion, music, and cultural media. This is a brand PR and thought partnership role, not just a film campaign placement role. You'll work with the leadership team to define the voice, expand awareness, and place us in conversations that matter-across traditional media, alternative platforms, and cultural institutions. The ideal candidate is a multi-hyphenate connector-someone who has led PR strategy for clients in the arts, music, fashion, or design worlds and knows how to drive cross-sector visibility. You understand how to move between prestige, emerging, and underground spaces and can make sure our company and leadership are visible in all three.
Key Responsibilities
Brand Positioning & Thought Leadership: Develop and execute a media strategy for the company's public narrative-its founders, philosophy, business model, and cultural positioning.
Cross-Industry Media Relations: Secure features, interviews, podcast placements, and profiles across film, music, fashion, art, architecture, lifestyle, and business publications-both legacy and indie.
Creative & Cultural Partnerships: Support partnerships with other cultural institutions, brands, museums, or media properties to extend the brand's presence into physical and digital spaces.
Press & Communications Strategy: Guide the creation of press materials (bios, fact sheets, launch memos, leadership profiles, social talking points) and editorial copy in partnership with internal teams.
Event Press Coordination: Coordinate with internal event producers to generate press attention and presence at key events (premieres, screenings, festivals, brand activations, etc.)
Founder & Team Visibility: Build and maintain momentum for company leadership through op-eds, talks, panels, and public-facing thought leadership that cuts across creative industries.
Ideal Qualifications
10+ years of PR/communications experience across multiple cultural industries (film, music, fashion, art, design, publishing, or similar)
Deep existing media relationships across mainstream and independent press
Experience shaping a public narrative for emerging brands, studios, or founders
Strong writing, editorial, and media coaching instincts
Creative and strategic thinker, not just a placement machine
Passion for cultural innovation and building visibility outside the traditional studio system
Work Structure & Location
Location: Remote-friendly; LA or NYC preferred for media access
Term: Ongoing retainer or project-based contract (flexible to scope)
Start Date: Summer 2025
