Role Overview
We're seeking a Community Manager / Producer (Contract) to lead partnerships, creative collaborations, and tour management for our most recent film acquisition-a boundary-pushing, artist-driven work with a national release and live screening events. This role is perfect for a culture-savvy connector who moves fluently across community orgs, talent, creators, influencers, and audiences-someone who can turn cultural alignment into powerful relationships, experiences, and buzz. You'll also help coordinate and produce tour events, manage guest talent and local partners, and supervise the Social Media Manager to ensure alignment across content and community strategy. The ideal candidate has experience in both cultural production and community building, especially for film, arts, or social impact campaigns.
Key Responsibilities
Community & Organizational Partnerships: Identify, pitch, and secure partnerships with mission-aligned organizations, grassroots leaders, schools, museums, collectives, and nonprofits in each tour city.
Talent, Creator & Influencer Engagement: Cultivate meaningful relationships with talent, creators, and influencers; build custom activations or invitations that make them part of the campaign.
Tour Production Support: Assist in the logistical coordination and on-the-ground execution of tour events-including screening Q&As, performances, community workshops, and guest curation.
Social Strategy Integration: Supervise the Social Media Manager, ensuring content and copy reflect the community voice, event activations, and influencer participation.
Campaign Messaging & Comms: Draft or oversee invites, announcements, partnership briefs, talking points, and other outward-facing communications rooted in the campaign's tone and mission.
Audience Engagement & Field Activation: Design high-touch, local audience outreach and activation strategies to drive word-of-mouth, sell tickets, and deepen cultural resonance across cities.
Ideal Qualifications
5-8 years of experience in cultural producing, community engagement, or influencer/creative marketing-ideally within film, arts, or social justice ecosystems
Deep familiarity with grassroots, cultural, or mission-driven communities
Strong project management and tour coordination skills (with talent, venues, and partners)
Excellent communicator-comfortable with decks, DMs, or live events
Experience managing team members or vendors (e.g., social media manager, event staff)
Passion for independent film and storytelling as a tool for cultural connection
Work Structure & Location
Location: Remote-friendly, with preference for LA or NYC-based candidates
Term: Contract through the end of the tour & release campaign (est. 4-5 months)
Travel: Yes - occasional travel required for live events and tour stops
