Reed Exhibitions serves 43 industry sectors with trade and consumer events. It is part of the RELX Group plc, a world-leading provider of information solutions for professional customers across industries.
The role will work with the CEO for the UK to lead the commercial strategy (business development, new launches and strategic analysis) and revenue performance of the business. The role will be instrumental in working with the Board to transform the business.
Team Structure: 2 direct reports, comprising 1 Business Development manager, 1 Revenue and Performance Head, with a total team of 5 (including 1 vacancy).
Scope: Commercial strategy for the RX UK company, comprising the Travel and B2B divisions, and newly acquired ReedPOP division. Business development across all these divisions, to include organic growth opportunities as well acquisitions. Continuous improvement of sales planning and forecasting processes.
Key responsibilities
• Work with the CEO and the Divisional Directors, proactively to drive the strategy and growth of the business.
• Create a cohesive and collaborative commercial team that delivers excellent results through effective leadership and management
• Produce commercial strategies and plans for approval by the main RX Board, at both company and show level
• Develop insight-led commercial strategies to drive revenue growth
• Identify new market opportunities to extend both RXUK and divisional portfolios, including show launches, acquisition targets and organic growth
• Support the development of high quality Product Launch Plans and facilitate initial launch phase
• Ensure competitor activity monitoring and analysis is available to support strategic growth and decision making
• Take a key role in supporting and guiding the development of our insights capability, strategy and execution
• Identify and initiate strategic partnerships.
• Embed a commercial mind-set of expansion and growth throughout the business
• Drive the development of effective sales processes and structures to drive growth
• Develop and embed revenue management strategies including commercial pricing structures across the UK business
• Conduct regular pricing reviews on a show by show basis
• Ensure optimisation of systems use and reporting
