This is a remote US, temp to hire position.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The Recording Academy is looking for a Payroll Coordinator to join the Finance & Accounting team to assist the Payroll Manager with related duties. You hold a bachelor's or associate's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related business field and are a self-motivated team player with interest in pursuing a career in the accounting field.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Run missing time punch report.
• Reach out to employees and their supervisors to correct timesheet errors.
• Assist new hires in adding their tax elections.
• Review tax elections for employee address changes in Workday.
• Review deferral and loan elections for the 401k plan and identify and fix any discrepancies.
• Run absence report - pending time off reports. Communicate with supervisors to review and approve time off prior to close of the pay period.
• Download payroll reports after the completion of payroll.
• Coordinate with Asure, third party payroll tax reporter, for all pay groups that tax filings are recorded.
• Prepare back-up for final check processing by Payroll Manager.
• Follow up on all tax notifications from Affiliates for review and analysis.
• Review all emails regarding timesheets and time off requests.
• Maintain orderly and complete filing system.
• Provide customer services to various departments and affiliated entities as it relates to payroll.
• Assist with performing month-end and year-end closing as needed.
• Reconcile assigned GL accounts.
• Ensure effective communication with all customers and vendors, both internally and externally.
• Perform other ad hoc requests at the discretion of the Payroll Manager, Controller, or Chief Financial Officer.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Associate's degree in accounting, finance, economics or related business field.
• Previous experience in payroll and general bookkeeping. Non-profit and/or entertainment industry a plus.
• Workday Payroll experience required.
• Proficiency in MS Office with strong working knowledge of Excel.
• Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts with accuracy.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all staff in a professional manner.
• Attention to detail with solid grammar and punctuation skills.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills.
• Ability to multi-task and remain calm while working under the pressure of deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
