Director, Stage Services
Reports to: SVP, Studios
Direct Reports: Stage Managers in training, Baristas
Job Location: Multiple CA locations including West Hollywood and the SF Valley.
Position Type: Full-Time
The Director, Stage Services for Quixote reports to the SVP, Studios and will directly assist the Booking Dept and Studio Operations. This individual will oversee the hiring, training, and assist with the performance management of all Stage Managers and Baristas at all Quixote locations. The Stage Services Director will interface with the various Q departments to deliver Best in Class Service at all Quixote Studio Facilities.
Duties include but are not limited to:
• Cultivate and manage a 90-day Stage Manager training program to ensure that all locations are staffed with dedicated, hardworking, and customer friendly Stage Managers and Baristas.
• Actively recruit new candidates for the program and ultimately place trained Stage Managers and Baristas studio in the location they are best suited
• Support the Stage Managers with guidance in decision-making and general best practices to set them up for success.
• Work with the SVP and Studio Ops to ensure our Print, Commercial, TV and Film clients have the best service experience possible resulting in repeat and referral business.
• Track open positions and work with HR to fill all open roles
• Develop a comprehensive training program for each position
• Create a consistently high touch service approach across all Studio facilities
• Develop a sense of urgency among all Stage Managers and Baristas at each location. Production needs must be attended to with Passion and Care.
• Hands on Approach. Lead by Example
• Understand all roles of the various crew members working on our lots.
• Insist on tight Collaboration across all Quixote departments
• Train and develop Stage Managers into the Best Customer Service Personnel on the Planet.
• Develop Stage Manager Operating Manual for each Studio Location
• Enlist the Studio Operations Manager/Director to assist with cross training current Stage Managers
• Ensure all Stage Managers have in depth knowledge of all Studio Mechanical (HVAC, Power, Sound Systems) and Grip and Lighting EQ
• Ensure all Stage Managers are highly proficient in RW
• Complete and follow all hiring procedures including safety training, onboarding, and Lift certification
• Work with Studio Operations to ensure compliance with laws, rules, and regulations, for the Studio.
• Monitor the development of Stage Managers and work with Studio Operations to ensure all personnel are trained and certified as needed and required.
• Liaise with Quixote personnel and clients to provide a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable working environment.
Instrumental in recruiting, hiring, and retaining key personnel.
• Quixote's Core Values and 5P Service Initiatives. Develop and mentor reports on the importance of these values
• Ensure Quixote Stage Managers and Baristas are compensated and incented relative to market rates
• Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of client, staff, and studio information
• Over deliver on our 5P's
• All other duties as assigned
Working Conditions:
Activities include regularly working in outside weather conditions, exposure to extremes of temperature, visibility, wet and/or humid conditions and vibrations. Noise level in work environment is usually loud. Dust, mechanical hazards, moving objects, operating vehicle, and shift work.
Required Experience and Abilities:
• Minimum 10 years of Stage Management or Production Experience
• Experience operating and handling equipment, including in depth knowledge of G&L gear
• Ability to effectively communicate with management, clients, and team members
• Ability to work 24/7 and overtime as necessary
• Possess a valid driver's license and excellent driving record
• Ability to perform all duties in a safe manner and in alignment with Company policies and procedures
