What You'll Do
This position requires managing multiple PGA initiatives at the same time in a fast-paced environment that has numerous stakeholders within and external to the organization.
Program Strategy
• Lead on the overall strategy for producer mentorship initiatives across the Guild (including identification of potential strategic partners)
• Lead on the overall strategy to establish clear pathways and processes to cultivate non-Guild members participating in initiative programs into members (as qualifying credits are met)
Program Management and Administration
• Lead on the the day-to-day management of two Guild initiatives - PGA Create, a lab for emerging and mid-career creative producers from under-represented backgrounds, and the Independent Production Safety Initiative (IPSI), which provides free, anti-sexual harassment training and legal consultation for independent film, television and digital productions.
• Manage the application and review processes.
• Manage program budgets, proposals and reports as needed - for internal stakeholders and external funders and partners.
• Establish evaluation processes, including identification of any consultants or advisors
• Manage and oversee curriculum development, as needed.
• Actively participate in the design, development and execution of communications and marketing strategies.
• Ensure the integration of outreach, participants, advisors, mentors and speakers into year-round Guild systems.
• Work with Guild leadership to maximize awareness and cultivate engagement of the programs through all facets of the Guild and its relationships.
• The position requires working at events on evenings and weekends.
Minimum Requirements
• 5-7 years of hands-on experience with one or more of the following: tv/film development; on-set producing (series, features); talent development/representation with focus on producers and/or producing.
• Experience in both scripted and documentary/non-fiction production.
• Proven track record assessing and managing programs, program participants, mentors and advisors with a high level of cultural integrity and authenticity.
• Skilled in discussing intersectional issues in creative and production process with sensitivity and diplomacy.
• Excellent project management skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Proven leadership, prioritization, and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills. You will need to communicate with clarity and comfort to all constituencies, including those within the Guild, external partners and stakeholders and others in the industry.
• You must be a team player as well as a problem solver. PGA has a small full-time staff and many stakeholders within and external to the organization.
• Bachelor's degree OR equivalent experience.
• Ability to actively contribute from day one in a fast paced and evolving environment.
Preferred Requirements
• Prior experience as a mentor, advisor or program manager for programs supporting filmmakers. Direct experience and/or familiarity with challenges facing producers is essential.
• Helpful, but not mandatory: Experience managing grants and sponsorships - from application, through elements of writing proposals and reports to managing budgets.
• Helpful, but not mandatory: Prior experience working with a nonprofit organization or membership association.
• This is a full-time position. Ideal candidates are not actively working as producers (i.e., developing and pitching their own projects).
