PRETTYBIRD and VENTURELAND are international production companies focusing on commercial, music video, film and television development and production. We're currently seeking an extremely polished Accountant to join our accounting team.
General Requirements:
We're looking for a candidate that is passionate, thrives in high pressure environments, processes complex projects quickly and with precise detail, is extremely driven and organized, self sufficient, has an outstanding work ethic and prides themselves on sense of urgency. This position will be a full time role, working out of the PRETTYBIRD / VENTURELAND offices in Culver City.
Responsibilities:
Maintain vendor master files.
Assist with preparation of the year-end IRS Form 1099's for all non-incorporated payees for review by the Tax Department.
Maintain organization of AP documents, including invoices, payment support, and expense reports.
Verify proper documentation and approval authorization on invoices, check requests and expense reports, according to policy requirements.
Assist in preparation of check runs.
Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing procedures and reporting schedules.
Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
Ability to work well with various departments to reconcile discrepancies in a timely manner.
Execute tasks in compliance with corporate and JSOX requirements.
Assist in developing policies and procedures that support business objectives and ensure the effective and efficient processing of financial information to support growth.
Must adhere to full-time schedule and overtime as needed.
Additional duties assigned by the Controller or CFO.
Processing freelance payroll, including reviewing and submitting timecards, reviewing payroll audits, coding and entering payroll invoices.
Assist in preparation of check runs including matching checks to invoices for Controller / CFO approval and preparing for mailing.
Perform filing, sorting, and other administrative tasks.
Work with other departments to reconcile discrepancies in a timely manner.
Assist with month and year-end closing processes.
Assist with quarterly, annual, and internal audit preparations.
Processing invoices and issuing payments.
Processing check requests from production teams.
Other duties as assigned by Controller or CFO.
Must adhere to full-time schedule and overtime as needed.
Experience & Skills:
Bachelor's Degree required
3+ years of Accounting experience (Preferred)
3+ years of Processing production payroll (Preferred)
Degree in Accounting/Finance/related field (Preferred)
Advanced Excel, Word and Google docs skills
High Volume Reconciliation experience (Amex/credit cards)
Large/Mid Size ERP System experience
Entertainment Industry Bookkeeping (Preferred)
Commercial Production experience (Preferred)
Knowledge of Entertainment Industry specific to physical film / commercial production and film / commercial production terminology (Preferred)
Hyper detail-oriented and a team player
Excellent interpersonal skills
Demonstrated proficiency with Google dropbox
Demonstrated proficiency with Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel
Familiarity with Zoom, BlueJeans and Slack (Preferred)
Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate overtime as needed
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Ability to handle multiple tasks, respond quickly to shifting priorities and function in a demanding environment with competing and changing priorities
Experience building and maintaining filing systems and organizing and maintaining large amounts of data
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
A self-starter who is able to work both independently and function well within a team
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment where flexibility, keeping others informed and anticipating needs is essential
Strong analytical capabilities and judgment
