Qualifications/Prerequisites
Have a STRONG command of the English language.
Staff writers need broad general knowledge for spotting factual errors; good critical thinking skills in order to recognize inconsistencies or vagueness; interpersonal skills for dealing with writers, other editors and designers; attention to detail; and a sense of style.
College credit and/or references are available for this position.
Interns are required to write 5 stories per week (approx 300 word count min per story) and will learn each week about digital media, news writing, SEO, images, Google tags, meta descriptions, focus keywords, interview formatting, press coverage, social media marketing, embedding media, ad placement, etc.
The 12-week program is unpaid, but you will develop a portfolio and learn much needed skills for the world of digital media and entertainment news writing. At the conclusion of the 12 weeks, there is an opportunity to bring you on board as a staff writer, where you would be paid based on the view count of your content (the content produced during your internship would also be eligible for revenue share at this time).
This internship is completely virtual, and can be completed from anywhere in the world (so long as you have reliable Internet)! You do not need to be a current student at a college or university, though many of our interns are also full-time students.
