Industry & Job Overview:
Audio is the medium of the moment - it has become a staple of our everyday lives, as both the number of devices we listen on and the volume and variety of audio content itself has increased.
While podcasting has generated the most media attention in recent years with behemoth acquisition announcements and celebrity initiatives, the audiobook market is the next frontier in audio innovation as the creator economy drives new book/audiobook publishing models. Podium works with top author and voice actor talent and functions as both a publisher and audio-first studio as it actively partners with independent writers to own and best monetize their IP.
Podium Audio is searching for an experienced art director to take the helm of our cover art development process, guiding a talented team of perma and freelance book and audiobook cover designers. We are looking for an experienced manager, who can view the creative art development process through a digital marketing and genre-specific lens.

Own department standards for production, productivity, quality, and client service
Ensure team adheres to current processes, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, and proposing and creating processes and tools to support design operations
Collaborate with marketing and author relations department in creating marketing plans, aligning team priorities with both publishing schedule and business objectives to deliver high-quality work on time and on budget
Analyze market trends, consumer need, and the competitive landscape
Present or oversee presentation of final concepts and oversee dissemination for cross-organizational use

Exceptional capability with typography, layout, and prototyping
Highly skilled with leading a team of creative talent
Strong creative vision with an understanding of business objectives
Proclivity toward creative collaboration, with ability to take constructive criticism in stride.
