Full Time Unpaid Internship
Penske Media Corporation (PMC), the parent company of iconic media brands such as Rolling Stone, Variety, Billboard, WWD and Sportico, is seeking an MBA Marketing Intern, Subscriber Engagement. The ideal candidate will be both a “poet” and a “quant,” able to pitch and develop creative marketing campaigns as well as dig into data to uncover key insights. With a focus on subscriber engagement strategy, in this role, you will build upon your coursework and past internship experience, working with cross-functional teams to develop and deploy email marketing plans that enhance subscription value and communicate that value to our subscriber base. You will also gain exposure to data ecosystems and reporting. The intern will report to the Senior Director, Retention & Engagement and will work closely with key stakeholders across multiple digital subscription brands in the PMC portfolio.
What You’ll Do:
• Develop compelling email marketing campaigns to drive subscriber engagement across product touchpoints and reduce subscriber churn. These campaigns will include automated email journeys, such as subscriber Welcome Series.
• Understand the unique value proposition and subscriber profile of each of our distinct subscription brands.
• Use Google Analytics to drive content marketing recommendations.
• Write creative briefs for email campaign assets. Work with internal designers to see the request through from initial ideation to final asset creation.
• Report on the ongoing success of campaigns and their impact on churn.
• Additional projects may include collaborating with the Data Team on reporting, such as retention and churn reports for our newer titles.
What You’ll Learn:
• Subscriber engagement and retention strategy for digital subscriptions in the media/entertainment publishing industry.
• How to write creative briefs in a corporate environment.
• Familiarity with Salesforce email marketing and Journeys
• Retention and engagement metrics.
Requirements:
• Currently enrolled in an MBA or other graduate program graduating between December 2022-June 2023.
• Motivated to create outstanding email marketing campaigns and excited by the opportunity to “speak” to the subscriber along different points in their journey. Previous email marketing experience in a work or internship environment a strong plus.
• A passion for understanding the customer and the ability to translate that understanding into a strategic communication plan.
• Exceptional written communication skills.
• Intermediate knowledge of Excel or desire to learn.
