PMC: HR Generalist
Penske Media, a dynamic and growing media business, is expanding its Human Resources team with the addition of an HR Generalist position in our Los Angeles office. The HR Generalist will report to our LA-based AVP of HR, while collaborating with the entire HR team to implement HR strategies that foster organization and people development across our US operations. You will address needs in areas such as training and development, HR administration, performance evaluation, DEI, and compliance.

Responsibilities
• Onboarding and Off boarding: Manage all onboarding and off boarding for LA-based staff; Schedule and oversee all new-hire orientations; Assist with completion of all employment documentation, ensuring all required documentation is in place.
• Performance Management and Learning: Coordinate the annual performance management timelines and processes; Serve as point of contact for our online learning resources for all staff.
• Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: Support our commitment to fostering an environment where all feel welcome to bring their full selves to work by working alongside our employee-run DEI Committee and Affinity Groups in their events and initiatives throughout the year and overall be an active contributor to all DEI activities.
• HR Administration: Serve as general point of contact for employee inquiries; Manage our employee hotline feedback process; Assist with employee surveys; Execute effective HR File management; Send out employee documents via Adobe Sign; Maintain data in our HRIS (UltiPro); Manage day-to-day functions of a busy HR department.
• Compliance: Work with internal and outside counsel for immigration and visa processing; Support compliance by pro-actively identifying any areas of potential non-compliance; Provide data management across the department; Partner with payroll to process all worker’s compensation and unemployment insurance documentation; Communicate and provide interpretation of company policies and programs to internal and external audiences, while consistently taking an analytical eye to reinvent existing policies as needed.
• Employee Relations: Provide exceptional customer service, both internally and externally, by exhibiting a high sense of urgency, exceptional follow through, and positive communications both verbally and in writing; Answer general employee questions and/or guide them to proper resource for further support; Develop relationships of trust and provide a positive, helpful and collaborative environment where employees feel welcome; Pro-actively seek to ensure employees and the business have needed support; Provide support as needed in the investigation of employee matters; Be the eyes and ears of the organization to support a positive culture.
• Benefits Administration: Act as liaison for employee benefit questions and develop a relationship with our third party benefits service center; Assist our HR Director (head of benefits) in coordinating annual open enrollment.
• Project support: Manage projects and/or participate as a project member on company-wide HR initiatives, including employee events throughout the year, occasionally collaborating with our LA reception and facilities teams.
Required Qualifications
and Education
• General HR knowledge and experience in the areas of employee relations, HR administration, compliance performance management, and training, with the ability to incorporate applicable Federal, State, and local employment laws and HR industry best practices.
• Possess both strategic thinking capability and “hands on” HR plan implementation experience.
• Proven ability to work independently and effectively in deadline-oriented environment, with critical attention to detail.
• Experience handling matters of confidentiality with utmost tact and diplomacy.
• Exceptional interpersonal, oral and business writing communication skills, including a strong telephone and online video meeting presence, always with a high level of professionalism and courtesy.
• Working knowledge of workers comp and HR filing compliance preferred.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel capability for vlookups, pivot tables and other useful tools.
• Knowledge and experience with HR management systems and other HR software applications to track information and generate reports. Experience with UltiPro a plus.
• MUST have a positive attitude and be self-motivated with a teamwork mentality and passion for customer service.
• Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related field and a minimum of 2 to 3 years of direct human resources experience.
• CHRP or PHR qualification a plus.
