PMC: Director / Sr Director, International Markets (Licensing & Partnerships)
Penske Media Corp. (PMC), the parent company of Rolling Stone, Variety, Billboard, The Hollywood Reporter, SXSW, The Golden Globes, The American Music Awards, and many more, is hiring a Director of International Markets (Licensing & Partnerships) who will be the primary executive generating revenue across the PMC portfolio of brands. The Director will work closely with the PMC brands, legal, and finance teams to negotiate partnerships from Term Sheets through Fully Executed Agreements. We are seeking a leader with the following responsibilities and requirements:
Responsibilities:
• This role will be the primary executive generating international licensing and partnership revenue across 7-8 key globally recognized brands in the PMC portfolio.
• Ideally based in the Middle East and overseeing the development of MENA, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Eastern Europe as key markets of focus. Experience in these markets will be an added advantage.
• Success metrics will be annual licensing revenue and net profit contribution
• Primary duties; market research, prospecting, lead development, travel, negotiating deals, working with licensing partners and representatives, and marketing personnel
• Areas of focus: Media, events, branded hospitality, apparel, consumer packaged goods, food & beverage, awards/accolades programs, experiential, custom publishing and more
• Work across internal stakeholder groups for respective PMC Brands (including sales, marketing, editorial, product, design, and finance) to build support and consensus for new business initiatives, new markets, and licensing opportunities
• Reporting to Managing Director, International Markets, PMC
• Present progress to Brand & PMC Leadership and teams on monthly/quarterly basis
• Attend international industry events to represent PMC build relationships with potential partners and create awareness of PMC’s brands
• Focus on developing large multi-year revenue programs vs. smaller, one-time opportunities
Requirements:
• 10-15 years’ experience in the media industry in a licensing or business development role
• Deep understanding and comfort with industry revenue models and business terms; revenue guarantees, royalties, rights & permissions, etc.
• Established a network of contacts with potential partners
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Able to work independently and deliver projects on time
• Creative dealmaking with first-class partners is a must
• Excellent presentation and writing skills (decks, term sheets, memos, executive summaries, etc.)
• 15-20% travel; trade shows, client visits, PMC offices
• Preferred Language ability – English, Arabic, and French.
