Founded in 1962, Artforum delivers informed criticism and analyses of the latest developments in contemporary art and culture, both in print and online.
Artforum seeks a full-time Senior Editor for artforum.com. The ideal candidate has substantial editing experience, is well versed in art cultural discourse, and is deeply immersed in gallery culture.
Reporting to the Managing Editor and collaborating with other editorial and digital staff, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining editorial standards and expanding the reach of Artforum’s online coverage while also offering occasional editorial assistance to the print edition.
Responsibilities:
• To research, commission, and edit column and feature material for web and print in consultation with other senior editorial staff
• To assist with the commissioning of audio-visual content
• To provide leadership and guidance to other web staff
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in art history or related field (or equivalent experience)
• At least four years professional editorial experience
• Deep knowledge of contemporary art
• Proficiency with requisite software, online publishing, and social media
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Typical wage range: $62K - $72K. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The typical candidate is hired below midpoint of the range. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
