Art in America: Senior Editor (Temporary)
Art in America is hiring a Senior Editor (Temporary: September 23, 2022-February 1, 2023) who will be responsible for assigning and editing features for the print magazine. The Senior Editor will have the opportunity to write for the print magazine and its website, but this is not a necessary part of the job.
The Senior Editor reports to the Executive Editor.
Qualifications
• At least 3 years experience working for a website or publication. Some knowledge of art and art history is crucial.
• Demonstrated ability to work with multiple staff members on deadlines, and to keep track of multiple projects concurrently.
• Ability to edit complex magazine features on contemporary and historical art.
Duties
• Assigning and editing print features, and select web-only features, including generating feature ideas and writer outreach.
• Assigning and editing book reviews for print and web (~2-3/month).
• Assigning and editing front-of-book essay columns.
• Pitching in with exhibition review editing.
• Research, writing, and fact-checking blurbs on major forthcoming exhibitions for the museum previews section of the Art in America Annual Guide.
