Full Time Job
The Sr. Manager, DEI Content will work closely with Pixar Filmmakers, Production Teams, Executives, Disney's RISE team and other TWDC Partners to ensure content, marketing and franchise efforts are authentic and relevant to a rapidly diverse and global audience. They will join a team committed to producing authentic representation in service of telling the best stories in the world.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Be a resource for and advise Pixar filmmakers to ensure content is culturally accurate, authentic, inclusive, and devoid of stereotypes and tropes. Guide filmmakers and partners to evaluate opportunities across the spectrum of representation
• Project manage DEI Content work with Pixar and Disney, partnering with Filmmakers, Production Teams, Executives and key partners across content, marketing, and franchise
• Provide direction and management of DEI Content-focused Production Coordinators, overseeing day-to-day tasks including meeting oversight and a variety of culture-related activities, if needed
• Build relationships and manage engagements with cultural consultants and community partners who provide subject matter expertise on content, consumer strategy, and marketing
• Partner with Pixar filmmakers, RISE and other Disney partners to manage our DEI Content-related activities across Studio businesses and ensure alignment between The Walt Disney Company and Pixar efforts
• Work in close collaboration with Pixar's DEI People and Culture team to align on DEI goals, objectives and messaging within the Studio and partner with Pixar SRGs to garner insight and feedback, as needed
• Build strong creative and business relationships throughout Pixar and across the Walt Disney Studios
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• 7+ years of work experience, with project management experience, production experience, and/or cultural consulting experience
• Keen understanding of the creative filmmaking process and ability to provide creative feedback on projects for the entire life cycle of a film, from development and production to marketing and distribution, ensuring representation and maximizing diverse storytelling opportunities, with an understanding of what notes are appropriate to bring up at which stage
• Proven ability to gather and synthesize multiple perspectives and effectively prioritize feedback
• Strategic thinker with superior project management and collaboration skills
• A track record of positive and productive relationships with a variety of industry experts across dimensions of identity
• Strong external/industry network of DEI resources to leverage in educating the team and advancing work
• Understands structural and systemic inclusion and equity work and how to drive long-lasting change and business ownership
• Demonstrates strong leadership skills with the ability to turn vision into action, motivate others to achieve goals, follow through on decisions, draw out the best in others, and lead with compassion and kindness
• Ability to facilitate discussions and decisions with filmmakers
• Comfortable in a conceptual environment and has demonstrated experience to translate vision into action
• Ability to influence and work with others in a highly matrixed and creative organization.
• Has demonstrated experience managing a team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience in Animation creative and/or the Animation production pipeline process
• A passion for diversity, equality, and inclusion
• Experience with content or business development strategies for key groups including women, Latinx/o/a, Black and African Americans, Asian American and Pacific Islanders, Native/Indigenous community, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+, and others
• International work experience, especially as it pertains to diversity and inclusion
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
• BA/BS Degree or Comparable Work Experience
WHAT ELSE YOU SHOULD KNOW:
• Location: Emeryville, CA office location (in person)
• Reports to Pixar's Sr. Vice President Marketing & Franchise with a dotted line to Disney's Director of Content Advisement on the Studio RISE team
• Status: Full-time, exempt
The hiring range for this position in Emeryville is $170,800.00 to $218,400.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
