A script supervisor is responsible for keeping the master production script current at all times, diligently tracking and in-putting the revisions that constantly occur through a variety of means and sources. The Script Supervisor schedules, prepares, and attends all scratch (temporary) and production dialogue recording sessions to manage recording priorities and take director notes. This position demands constant, intense organization and attention to detail, and requires the ability to travel and to occasionally work irregular hours.
RESPONSIBiLITIES:
• Act as central hub and version manager for the production script
• Create close working relationships with the Director, Writer, Editor and Producers; obtain their trust and understanding of how significantly this role supports them
• Update producers with all notable story/script changes as they occur
• Track dialogue recording status at all times; dialogue recording status summaries including outstanding character line count must be regularly generated and disseminated to the producers and to the Editorial department
• Incorporate all director-approved changes to scripted material at regular intervals, especially before recording sessions. Attend all meetings where such changes are subject to take place
• Create an archival ''milestones'' conformed script after every story reels screening
• Track scratch dialogue based on story deliveries, script revisions, and director and/or editor requests. Book and attend scratch recording sessions: Reserve recording studio, the talent, the editorial support, and the director's time
• Attend Production dialogue recording sessions: schedule dialogue review sessions with the director as needed; update the script with the review notes. Prep and distribute the recording material for the Actors, Director, and all other session attendees. During recording sessions, recording priorities must be managed, and the Director's preferred takes (line readings) logged and conveyed to the Editor. Demonstrate appropriate and self-aware conduct in the presence of actors and their representatives
• Create and maintain digital and paper systems for internal and external tracking, distribution, and script archival for the duration of the film – from development to the final conformed (to theatrical release) production script
• Take notes during director reviews for both script and story revisions
• Track writer contribution – who did what and when – critical when determining writer credits
• Liaise with the Legal Department to ensure that scripted material is appropriate and within established copyright guidelines
• Maintain critical attention to security when distributing scripted material
• Act as the ''guardian'' of development material as well as production scripts
• This position can report to either the Story or Editorial departments, as the duties impact and are impacted by both
• Other duties may include: schedule meetings between the Writer and the Director, keep the writer on task, help cast the scratch talent, and write character descriptions for casting packets and/or marketing purposes
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in filmmaking, communications or English
• Three or more years of practical experience in feature-animation, short-animation film or feature production or equivalent experience
• Identification and assertion of priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Must possess exceptional attention to detail and follow-through, and the ability to function under pressure. A keen visual and auditory memory a plus
• Ability to follow direction, work autonomously, and on a team
• Must be a knowledgeable and effective communicator up, down, and across the production pipeline
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency with FinalDraft software, Excel, and Word. Ability to quickly learn proprietary script formatting program
PHYSICAL FACTORS:
• Must be able to sit for long periods of time typing and/or writing, and to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds
• Ability to travel, occasionally overnight, is required
