Pixar's Software R&D Department develops the studio's in-house proprietary filmmaking software. This is an opportunity for you to work alongside our artists and engineers to design and implement the infrastructure, tools, and workflows used to render 3D scenes into the final imagery seen on screen by audiences around the world.
Our Rendering Pipeline Software Engineers are responsible for supporting all of the rendering needs across the studio, including technology for submitting, managing, debugging, and optimizing those tasks. You will be challenged by our production teams to enable Pixar to continue raising the bar of what can be artistically and technically achieved in computer animated films.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design, develop, and maintain Pixar's rendering pipeline and tools
• Collaborate effectively with our team of engineers, QA, Build, UI, Doc, and Project Managers
• Partner with our world-class artists and technologists to contribute to our state-of-the-art software and support Pixar's film production
REQUIREMENTS:
• Professional experience or a demonstrable aptitude in C and Python
• Ability to trouble-shoot with a high attention to detail and quality
• The ability to thrive in an evolving production-centric environment by being adaptable and resilient
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
PREFERRED:
• Experience with modern UI development toolkits, especially Qt
• Understanding of UNIX/LINUX programming workflows
• Knowledge of modern rendering architectures or prior experience with render farm systems
• Prior exposure to 3D computer graphics applications (e.g. Katana, Houdini, Unity, Unreal) is a plus
