Full Time Job
The Associate Music Editor role combines music research and sourcing, and temp track editing. Associate Music Editors work closely with our Senior Music Editors and Editorial teams, providing temporary music for our feature films, as well as sound effects support as needed. Candidates must demonstrate a passion for film music and a wide knowledge of music and its use in storytelling.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Under the guidance of the Senior Music Editor(s), act as a temporary music editor on a feature film
• Research and edit (in Avid Media Composer and ProTools) temporary music for films through development stages and assist in the preparation of the soundtrack for key screenings i.e.: BT and Previews as required
• Mix work in progress reels for screenings and presentations
• Execute audio laybacks, conversions and deliveries
• Back up and archive projects
• Partner with the Avengers for Avid, Pro Tools and other studio maintenance and upgrades
• Keep the Senior Music Editor apprised of assignments and status of work
• Keep up to date with new music and sound editing technology
• Supervise the Music Assistant(s) to help maintain music and sound databases and assets for all Pixar shows
• Ensure all requests for the music and sound department are responded to and handled by the Music Assistant(s) in a timely manner
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum 2 years track laying experience (e.g., Avid, Final Cut Pro, sync, surround)
• Minimum 3 years experience with ProTools
• Minimum 3 years experience with Macintosh OS (mid-high level user)
• Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-based environment
• Collaborative team player
• Ability to multi-task and remain steady under pressure
• Excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills
• Willing to work flexible hours (including nights and weekends) and/or overtime on short notice
• Music literacy and/or ability to play a musical instrument a plus
