Job Summary:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Online Editorial:
• Research, implement, and maintain all online pipeline procedures from AVID and Premiere to Resolve
• Prepare and manage technical workflow of offline edits for finishing in high resolution master format (i.e., ProRes HQ files)
Conform offline edits to original camera sources, reconnect all artwork, photos, graphics to high resolution files
• Prepare and deliver textless online edits from Avid to DaVinci Resolve for color grade
Package and deliver final color grade, final print master sound with final graphics, lower 3rds and titles, add broadcast safe color
Export final master ProRes HQ files and deliver to Media Control Center to distribute to Deluxe
• Responsible for documenting workflow processes and training Creative Content editorial on best practices
Editorial:
• Edit documentaries in Avid Media Composer and/or Premiere Pro
• Self assist with logging, transcoding, and finding assets for editorial purposes as needed
Editorial Support:
• Log footage - data entry into Avid, create detailed and accurate description of large volume of video footage including b-roll and interviews
• Set up new Avid projects for internal and external editors
• Support editors by finding footage and troubleshooting Avid issues
• Archive final Avid projects and manage media to create new avid projects
• Test Avid workflows when Avid is updated
• Export QuickTime deliveries and other assets to Filmmakers, Sound, Legal, Marketing, and external partners for review purposes
• Transcribe final videos
• QC final videos before shipping to Deluxe
Other:
• Help sustain and drive the creative process (e.g., participate in documentary content-development meetings, brainstorm ideas for bonus content, provide creative feedback on content)
• Publish accurate cut lists for output
• Catalog and maintain a digital library by tape or file source, description, and film sequence
• Attend screenings. Operate screening room for some presentations
• Perform quality control on digital outputs for sound and picture, sync, etc.
• Avid Film Composer daily operational maintenance
• Refine editorial processes, procedures, systems, and databases
• Assist with film shoots as needed
• Set up and breakdown interview shoots as needed
• Create and design graphics, lower 3rds, and titles
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 3-5 years' experience with AVID, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, or other NLE editing platforms
• Experience with camera, lighting, and sound for live-action or documentary production a plus
• Must have relevant experience with logging a large amount of footage in live-action or documentary context
• Must perform well both independently and with a team, under stressful situations that require quick response
• Positive ''can do'' attitude while maintaining a high level of professionalism
• Ability to be proactive, flexible, and motivated to learn
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
• Ability to lift (40lbs), carry, and move equipment in different work environments
• Available to work flexible hours (including nights and weekends) and/or overtime on short notice
