Part Time Unpaid Internship
The Phoenix Mercury, the three-time WNBA champions and 2021 WNBA Finalist, are looking for a summer intern to assist the departments of Marketing, Community Relations, and Public Relations.
What You Will Do:
This role has a variety of responsibilities in Marketing, Public Relations, Community Relations and Game day!
Marketing:
• Assist with single game ticket sales strategy
• Work in conjunction with the Creative Services team to execute paid and organic art requests
• Distribute tickets to non-profits/community groups and help distribute pocket schedules, flyers, posters to downtown business and at select events
• Build relationships with Downtown Phoenix Partnerships/Ambassadors
• Manage online newsletter copy/content
• Attend/Work all Mercury events (Mid-April through Mid-October, tentatively)
• Assist with pre-game and post-game ticket promotions/events
• Keep Mercury web page up to date
• Recap Mercury activations and promotions
• Lead street team activations
Public Relations:
• Attend media interviews (depending on the outlet)
• Coordinate announcements with local and national media
Community Relations:
• Assist with appearances (players and coaches)
• Plan and execute Mercury’s involvement in local charitable events
• Track autograph items and donation requests
Game Day:
• Assist with pre-game and post-game ticket promotions/events
What We Need From Our Intern:
• Flexible working hours including weekends, evenings, and some as business needs arise included (30 hours minimum per week)
• Additional responsibilities may be added or changed based on business needs.
• Strong written & verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Outside-the-box thinking
• Problem solving expertise
• Passion about women’s basketball / sports marketing
• Detail oriented, organized, reliable
• Creative thinker
• Valid Driver’s License with good driving record over the past three years
• Ability to stand/walk for extended period of time and lifting/moving up to 25 pounds when needed. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Reliable access to transportation to and from Footprint Center
• This position will be responsible for providing their own housing in the Phoenix metro area for the duration of the internship (housing will not be provided by Phoenix Mercury)
Education and Experience:
• Currently enrolled in college, working towards a 4-year degree in Communication, Marketing, Community Relations, Public Relations is highly preferred

• Shifts include games, ticketed events, and other small events
• Must be able to work weekends, nights and holidays when required
• Ability to work the entire event including pre and post-event activities as needed
• Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather, visibility and volume conditions
• Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment.
• Visual acuity and finger, hand, and wrist dexterity
• Walking, bending and ability to occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 pounds
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and may include walking long distances, climbing stairs or operation of an elevator
• Ability to Read, Write & Speak in English. Bilingual is a plus
