Full Time Unpaid Internship
Job Purpose
The Phoenix Mercury Marketing Partnerships department is currently recruiting for a part-time, seasonal intern. The internship is expected to be available the entire Phoenix Mercury season (candidate must be available for April through the end of October). The intern will be expected to work all Phoenix Mercury home games, work closely with Marketing Partnerships department to fulfill corporate sponsorships agreements and perform other clerical tasks as needed.
Primary (Essential) Duties
• Working all Phoenix Mercury home games, which includes:
o Assisting with hospitality elements for Marketing Partners who are in attendance
o Selecting contestants for sponsored in-game promotions
o Preparing contest props & prizes for all sponsor related promotions
o Executing contestant waivers
o Assisting with execution of in-game promotions
o Composing format of all in-game elements & intern responsibilities on a game-by-game basis
• Perform clerical tasks, as needed:
o Maintaining inventory of sponsorship and autographed items
o Updating and tagging partner photos after every game on PhotoShare software
o Preparing gift bags for games and special events
o Updating department contact list for internal use on game nights
o Managing signage timing reports
• Working with Marketing Partnerships department to fulfill corporate sponsorship agreements:
o Assisting with contractual fulfillment such as Drive To Retail Events, Player/Talent Appearances
on-site activations
o Assisting with basketball clinics, fantasy camps and open practices
o Activating Marketing Partner-related promotions both in the community and in-arena on game
days
o Assisting in the correspondence and communication with Marketing Partners
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Dependable and detail oriented
• Ability to take initiative, be self-motivated and work independently with limited supervision
• Work in a fast-paced environment
Experience/Education Requirements
• Must be a college junior, senior or enrolled in a Master's program
• Pursuing a marketing, business or sports related degree (preferred)
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
• Flexible schedule to include weekends, evenings, some holidays and some overtime to meet
business needs
• Must be available to work every home game plus 15-20 office hours per week
• Internship is expected to last the entire season (regular season begins mid-May, playoffs could go
through the end of October)
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds as needed
• Must have housing in the Phoenix metro area for the duration of the internship (Housing will not
be provided by Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury)
